Re: how to get an 'outstanding' in a lesson observation
You've spammed that link around before and it's just as useless now as it was the first time around.
If anyone REALLY wants to know how to be Outstanding, I would recommend 'Pimp Your Lesson', available on the cheap on Amazon, which has loads of really innovative ways to signpost all the flashy things you are doing to an observer.
That blog, however, is cynical nonsense. -
Re: how to get an 'outstanding' in a lesson observationIs the 'pimp your lesson' really good then?! Is that from a personal point of view?(Original post by Suzanathema)

Yeah it is
I bought it quite late on in the course, and found it a little bit cynical - it's more about proving yourself to others than about reflecting on your own practice, but it is absolutely crammed with useful tips. I use ideas from there quite regularly, so I recommend it. -
Im goin to start primary PGCE so do you think it would be useful for that too? I googled it and it said it was fpr secondary so just wondered, unless i looked at something similar lol.(Original post by Suzanathema)

Re: how to get an 'outstanding' in a lesson observationI remember flicking through a lot of it and thinking it was more suitable for primary, so I'm sure you'll find it relevant(Original post by pineapple86)

Anyway, you might get placed in Year 5 or 6, so using Secondary techniques will be useful. When I did my primary observation placement I watched a student teacher get walked all over in behaviour because he was doing really childish/KS1 things and they were too mature for them. -
