    Why have my periods stopped?
OK sooo i was always pretty regular, but at the age of like 14/15 i went on the pill, i was on it for like three years, and now i am off it. In this time i have took the morning after pill afew times (when i've been forgetfull with the pill.) I was on mitroginon if that is of any importance. I am very overweight too, (which i am trying to do something about - but easier said than done) which i'm unsure if it can effect it, but i have a hunch it can, but i'm to embarressed to tell anyone that they have stopped, including the doctor

Anyway, i was at the doctor a coup0le of days ago, and i've decided to go back on the pill, but i lied and said my last period was like three weeks ago, when in reality its been at least 6months, and it was pill induced - i know i shouldn't have done, but can anyone please offer me any advice on what might be causing it, and how to fix the problem ?

sorry about being anon, but i have friends on here,

It could be stress, have you had exams recently?

You shouldn't have lied to the doctor, you need to be honest so that you can get the right medication and treatment. Go back and ask your doctor about your periods.

Go back and see the doctor and explain - the extra weight might explain things, as can your body readjusting after the pill, as well as hormone changes but I would still see the doctor.

Also - take a pregnancy test, just to be sure.

    1. Lying to your doctor is really, really stupid. Doctors have had their fingers up people's bums so they're hardly going to flinch when you say 'I haven't had a period for 6 months.' They're not going to giggle and go 'Ooooh, you're talking about private things! Your lady parts!' Make another appointment (with a female doctor if it makes you feel more comfortable, they will let you request that) and tell the truth.

    2. It could be to do with your weight. But I'm no doctor.

    3. Regarding your last point, I don't think your friends would care easier. I'm sure the female ones get periods too, and I'm sure they would be equally concerned if they didn't have one for 6 months.

    4. If you forget to take the pill it might be worth thinking of another type of contraceptive which you can't forget - an IUD, the Implant, the Injection all being good. I'm going on the implant next week for the exact reason of being concerned for forgetting the Pill.
