Re: The Inbetweeners (US version) trailer. Oh god.The British accent is too complex to understand for the average American.(Original post by laura94)
Dear God. Why couldn't they just show the UK version? -
Re: The Inbetweeners (US version) trailer. Oh god.um it's not made for you, it's made for americans.(Original post by hiding12)
oh christ, how do the americans take every single british comedy and american it, i.e ruin it
listen, the inbetweeners is not classic english comedy or any of that crap. it's not so good because it's english humour. the inbetweeners is a show with basic character build and mainly, the puerile humour which we all love. puerile humour is NOT classic english comedy which so many people are referring to, which americans 'don't get' or whatever. everyone knows simon bird and co were massively inspired by american pie/superbad anyway. i loved superbad.
it doesn't look fantastic, yet it's not made for me, being english. the hate is so stupid. people are clueless and just seem to want to hate on america whenever possible. it's so boring. -

They did the same thing with the IT Crowd!

Can't they just leave it alone! -
Re: The Inbetweeners (US version) trailer. Oh god.
To be fair, it's got a decent team behind it.
Brad Kopeland (who created "My Name is Earl") is lead developer and he's working with the creators of the U.K version.
If you're going to blame anyone for this, blame the production company that sold on the rights for the series to be recreated.Last edited by ForensicShoe; 18-07-2012 at 13:45. -
Re: The Inbetweeners (US version) trailer. Oh god.
I just don't think British style humour coverts well enough when it comes to them remaking our shows.
It's also strange the way when they remake our shows they do it almost word for word, scene for scene. Over here we'd just show the original and already successful version of a show rather than bother remaking it.
Also, how's Jay going to make fun of "fattys" when he's not so slim himself?!

If anything it shows that what is effectively 'toilet humour' does not translate very well when spoken in a different accent.
