I currently hold a place a two universities. Is this allowed?
I completed first year but sent a new application away at the same time. I firmed on Monday however I still haven't dropped out of my other uni.
The uni I firmed still havent contacted me. Could it be something to do with currently being at another university?
What will happen? -
Re: I currently hold a place a two universities. Is this allowed? They probably haven't contacted you about firming them as you only did it 48 hours ago and these things don't happen instantly.(Original post by bestofyou)

You now need to inform your current uni that you won't be coming back in September and also work things out with student finance, if you're eligible for financial support. -

thanks. SF is a total mess at the minute. Apparently I should have applied as a new student, not a continuing one (even though I let them know I had changed course and university). So my application is a little messed up and they told me not to do anything until they sort it out.(Original post by Potally_Tissed)
It's allowed; the fact that you are at uni does not stop you applying to another.
It's only been two days since you set your firm choice so it's not like you've been waiting ages and nothing's happened. Give it a bit more time yet

Re: I currently hold a place a two universities. Is this allowed?Yes if you change your university etc (even if you're going into 2nd year of a course) then you're classed as a new student as far as student finance is concerned even if you've been in their system for several years. Just keep them updated with what's going on with your uni choices and ensure you do everything by the dates that they ask you.(Original post by bestofyou)

If you start a course before 2012, and then change, provided it's to an equivalent (ie, full-time to full-time or part-time to part-time) degree even at a different university you should be able to continue on the same fee structure and not move to the new system. Always double-check with the institution beforehand.

Re: I currently hold a place a two universities. Is this allowed? If you're moving to 2nd year entry (or 3rd year) of a course in 2012 then you should be able to pay the old fees of ~£3000 as this is what everyone else in that cohort on that course is paying. If you're restarting your degree again completely and are redoing 1st year on a new course then you will be liable to pay the new £9000 fees along with everyone else in your cohort.(Original post by bestofyou)
do you know anything about this:
You need to discuss it with the new uni as this isn't set in stone as a policy, its more that this is what should generally be happening but it isn't an automatic thing which will happen, you have to discuss it with the uni and get it confirmed.
