Love this band so much, pre-ordered the album so decided not to listen to the whole thing now.

Seeing them in Manchester in October, should be awesome.

I preordered the album but Play.com messed me about, so I've just ordered it off HMV instead. Dammit, wanted the signed copy oh well.

I'm seeing them in Manc too!

It's not as good as some of their previous stuff, but its better than anything else released this year tbh. Seeing them for 4th time at brum in october.

'It sounds good, but none of their work matches The 59 Sound for me.

Only listened to it once but it's very good. I agree with the previous poster. It doesn't reach the heights of The '59 Sound.

I love the album cover as well. Nice and retro.

I agree, The 59 Sound was a phenomenal record. To be fair to them, it's always going to be pretty damn hard to match it Handwritten is still solid though; Brian Fallon's voice makes every word immortal.

I know Brian has his own inimitable voice but does anyone know of any bands a bit like The Gaslight Anthem? I can't anything atm which I find even close to being as good as their stuff.

His side project, The Horrible Crowes, also released a great album last year. The guy is just really talented.

Handwritten has certainly grown on me the more I listen to it. I love 'Too Much Blood'.

Horrible Crowes (Brian Fallons side project)

    Pearl Jam

    Bruce Springsteen

    Tom Petty

You can hear influences of those three in Gaslights music.

I probably like the Horrible Crowes album more than any Gaslight one, it was just perfection.
