Re: Do you genuinely think you're smarter than the average TSR user?
Not in the slightest; I love coming on TSR and trawling through the maths forum especially. I don't understand any of their equations etc, but I find it amazing how intelligent they are - it's like a different language. Also, the debates/general discussions on this forum are eye opening. I just love their passion, inspiring stuff.
To be fair, in real life, I know no one which is a straight A*/A student. I got what most of TSR would call "poor" grades in my GCSE's; yet they were the best in my secondary school/local area and I was made to feel like a genius.
However academics isn't everything in life, and it's kind of annoying when I see people on here using big words, or demeaning others in an attempt to show they are smart. It gives TSR an air of elitism which isn't friendly at all.Last edited by I have a question; 18-07-2012 at 15:02. -
Re: Do you genuinely think you're smarter than the average TSR user? This is true. I regret not working hard enough since GCSE. Ballsed up my first attempt at AS and now on my second attempt I was a right prat!(Original post by Bellissima)
it's really hard to measure things like being "smart"... a lot of TSR users are smart, they just also work hard too to get these amazing grades. i am smart but also lazy. i still get above average grades but i could do better and they are below average compared to TSR. -
Re: Do you genuinely think you're smarter than the average TSR user?I used to think like you. I enjoyed life. Now I've realized how meaningless it's all been. One day you will too.(Original post by Bellissima)
that doesn't mean you can't enjoy what you are living through now...
would you rather sit there thinking "oh i will die in about 50 years so there's no point doing anything because i nor anyone else will remember it" and having a crap to mediocre existance... OR enjoying it? just because you will die and no one will remember you does not mean you never existed. -

Yes, I have a first from the big four uni, and some people go to brunel to do psychology or whatever

Re: Do you genuinely think you're smarter than the average TSR user?i hope to never see life the way you do. i realise life is "meaningless" in the grand scheme of things... so what? why do we have to have meaning/a point? my meaning is to enjoy the life that i am so lucky to have and hopefully help others do the same.(Original post by Jason2)

Re: Do you genuinely think you're smarter than the average TSR user?i have no idea what life will hold for me when i am that age, if i am still alive of course. for the moment, it doesn't matter... what will living life thinking about misery and unhappiness that you may or may not have in the future do for you except bring certain misery and unhappiness into your present? why live that way? you can't see the future... whatever happens to me in 50-60 years is beyond my current control.(Original post by Jason2)

Re: Do you genuinely think you're smarter than the average TSR user?Pretty much this.(Original post by Pheylan)
Not in terms of academics, but the amount of times I read something that makes me think "are you a ****ing retard?" just astounds me -
Surly you'd rather be sat in the home remembering what you had accomplished rather than being bitter about life in general(Original post by Jason2)

Re: Do you genuinely think you're smarter than the average TSR user?LOL that is like the best excuse for anyone inferior , they just say "oh i did not study as hard as you" - trust me that sounds so kiddish. Do you really think people who get higher grades spend larger significant time preparing? They probably do , but only slightly , no way near as some stupid people make it out to be...

Re: Do you genuinely think you're smarter than the average TSR user?Even the best of memories fade with age. And what use are memories when everything you once had is gone? Sure you can smile at memories but it's just not the same. If you had an illness I can bet my life you wouldn't be reminiscing the "good times".(Original post by Shomberlon)

Re: Do you genuinely think you're smarter than the average TSR user? This is just the kind of comment that makes me pretty sure I'm in the top half.(Original post by . . .)
Depends how smart you class the average TSR user.
hint: the relative position of tsr users compared to the general population exists independently of any attempt to classify it.
Hell, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this forum is crawling with dumb ****ers who have no critical thinking skills whatsoever. -
Re: Do you genuinely think you're smarter than the average TSR user?
No, the longer i spend on here, the worse i feel about my own level of intellect.
It seems the ‘average’ Tsr user is a great big nerd
To say, I’m not even slightly envious would be a lie. I wish I had A*A*A*A* and amassed vast amounts of trivial knowledge while still a teenager. Alas, I’ll always feel like the dumb weird girl compared to the ‘average’ folks on here.
Thankfully, I feel like a superior being around my friends. Woo!
The balance is restored!.
