    MEN Arena
I'm seeing Evanescence there in November, it's one of the few venues in Manchester I haven't been to, I don't know whether to buy a standing or seated ticket, I have been to the O2 Apollo and Academy and stood on both occasions but they are quite small, is the MEN arena much bigger than these as I don't want to buy a standing ticket and end up at the back with a poor view when I could buy a seated ticket and get a good view. Can anyone tell me what the MEN is like? I would prefer to stand but not if it means getting a terrible view.

Hey Toddman, I'd personally stand for a gig like evanescence i think it'd make the gig a lot more fun, but i know what you mean about the view.
If you can guarantee one of the rows towards the front in the lower block in blocks 115/102 then it'd probably be worthwhile, but i'm not a fan of sitting down in concerts overall.

I have an option of the 3rd row in 102, from the map 102 and 115 looks as though it's a side view, is the standing area in the MEN very big?

MEN standing area is pretty massive, as long as you get there fairly early you'll be able to get pretty close. The view is fine from half-way back though (generally where the crowd ends) because of the large screens. Seated is okay, the view of the stage is potentially better but you're further away. Also bear in mind that people will probably stand up in the seated areas

I think for the price (£33) I will probably sit because knowing my luck I won't get near the front and will be standing behind a tall person. I hope you are allowed to stand in the seated area however not like a football game where the steward tells you to sit down.

Try to get seats as close to the stage as possible. You're allowed to stand in the seated areas afaik!

If you want to get right to the front you'll probably have to arrive before doors open and queue for a while so it depends on how good your legs are and how willing you are to stand without refreshments or toilet breaks! Good thing about an arena is that even though the Manchester Arena (Not the MEN anymore!!) has a big performance area its still easy enough to see the stage from anywhere in the building.

For a 7.30 start what time would you have to start queuing do you think?
