OK so I had no idea where to put this but basically I am wondering if you lost your temper and punched someone in the face etc. and you were taken to court is it possible that you would be forced to go see a therapist and not go to prison?

Secondly are there any other instances where you would be forced to go and see a therapist????

This is REALLY important. Thank you

I'm not sure really, I don't think so:

This suggests that they can fine you or put you in prison, but I don't think they can force therapy... unless you're in prison? Try phoning your local police station and asking? :P

Hi , I agree with the above post, I don't think anyone can force you into therapy. They may offer you therapy if they feel it could help you, but for therapy to work you have to want the help for yourself.

Even if a person was taken to a room to talk to a therapist unless the person was willing to talk and tell the truth about their feelings then the therapy just wouldn't work.

    Hope that helped
    xx

I think they can only force you to get treatment if you are detained under the Mental Health Act, and even then, I'm not sure if they can force therapy. But I guess it could be a condition if they decide you can stay out of prison, but I'm not sure.

If you are on a Section 3 which is a treatment order you could have the therapy as your 'enforced' treatment. I have had experience of this so it can be done but it is a difficult one because you can't force someone to talk.
