    Yeah, it's fine, I did this. . . . . . .right before I killed my parents.

"I have this theory that because the human brain is so complex and varied the study of psychology doesn't actually exist. It's just a genius conspiracy to make us think there is something wrong with us when there clearly isn't, to get us to pay for sessions and pills and stuff. And when they go to psychology lectures, all they really do is teach you how to lie properly and play sudoku and hangman..."

^ genuine theory proposed by a lad at my uni. It would've been funnier had he been joking...

Mental health issues are real, but imagining things like harmless conversations in your head is nothing to worry about. I have this bad habit of imagining scenarios in my head on public transport and then laughing at them and getting weird looks from everyone.

don't worry, you're just as sane as I am...

Seriously, I constantly talk to myself, and basically have a few imaginary friends haha. Particualarly in the shower, its my alternative to singing. I think everyone does this really, but no one wants to talk about it. My brother used to make fun of me constantly, but I've heard him do it too!

A funny theory! I hate laughing in public, it's very embarrassing!

I do that! The other day I actually started to dance following a conversation in my head then remembered I was in public. Then i told my myself out loud to remember to be 'normal'

    Re: Talking to myself
I do this a lot. I have social anxiety so I worry a lot about past and future social interactions so right after doing stuff or before it I play over what happened/will happen by talking out loud to the "other" people. I like pretending I said something else and seeing how they react to that instead of what I actually said. Or I practice all the different things I could say and what the other person's reaction will be based on which thing I decide to test out. I can do this for a long time if it's some important event coming up. I've been known to lie in bed talking things over for close to 2 hours at a time.

At uni, I tended to do most my talking while washing up in the kitchen. The sink was positioned so my back was to the door and I lost count of the number of times my flatmates came in and I was standing having an in depth discussion with myself. On one particular occasion they stood listening for a good few minutes before I heard their laughing. Sooooooo embarrassing.

Haha, I do this. I'm quite relieved to hear I'm not the only one!

I don't do it in front of the mirror or with celebrities or made up people...just people I know IRL. I've always been a major daydreamer though, I try and channel it into my writing but I think I do it more than ever these days! I'm pretty reserved usually, so it's kind of a way of getting all my thoughts out...but inside my head. (That made more sense in my mind).

    Haha I've been there too!!!

I also have a habit of re-imagining events where I lost an argument or debate or fight or whatever by spontaneously doing some sly ninja tricks or by coming up with a really witty comeback / put-down and then miming bringing a gun to my lips and blowing it (and I often forget not to do that last part in public, leaving me looking like a wannabe psycho).

    Oh yeah, I'm so badass.

the more responses I get, the more it seems that I'm the only one who talks to the mirror etc. Not good.

Are you a visual learner at all? It might just be to do with the fact you like to see things rather than just hear them. Honestly, i wouldn't worry about it.

I spent half of my childhood talking to myself, i have a really bad habit of day dreaming, start playing out scenarios like films or books in my head, i still do it, but it was really bad when i was younger, i would just drift off in public and start talking away, now i generally don't speak but my mouth still moves when i do it. It has got me in trouble a few times, when I'm meant to be paying attention to something and suddenly my eyes are glazed over and I'm clearly not even aware of where i am.

But i don't mind, it has its pluses and negatives, stuck on a train ..good, driving in slow moving traffic ...bad, very bad.
I am exactly you, How did you manage to help yourself ?
