    FREAKING OUT: GCSE Result angst...
    Hey

I am soooooo worried about my GCSE results. I only take 6 ACTUAL GCSEs and 2 BTECs, and the college I am going to doesn’t look at BTEC results as the same as GCSEs, so I can only afford to fail 1 GCSE to get in... I am sure I failed French (I took higher and I wish I never did the exam was super hard). Anyway, history went well – but I always think that and get Ds – but I only needed 45% on this test so I should be okay! English lit (the subject I am the best at) is the one I am concerned about. I took the AQA spec A and am pretty sure I ****ed up the first question about the Crucible (I reckon I’ll get 15-20) and the Of Mice and men one went better (I reckon 25-30). I really want to get an A in that as I want to study it at degree level... The poetry exam went well! But I missed a few points off the first question but still should get in the high 20s for both (fingers crossed).

Anyway, I cannot get this off my mind... I am worried I’ll have to retake some GCSEs and start college at 17... then I’ll be a year above everyone and it’ll be awkward, etc.

I AM SO WORRIED. I cannot focus on anything. I am trying to get work experience at a law firm over the summer to put my mind off of it! I may go into law providing I get good results...

Is anyone else worried? And should I be worried if I do take a levels at 17...?

Heyyy, i've just finished my A-levels, so i'm not in your position exactly, but we have all been there , try and chill out, at the end of the day, GCSEs, in the long run are not that important, for getting into uni and stuff, its your AS levels and predicted A-levels that count...

So your only concern should be getting into college... The only real requierments most of the time is 5 A*-C grades including maths and english, and even then most colleges will be leniant, allowing you to resit maths and english whilst there if you need too!

Have you thought about how you could resit your GCSEs? I've never heard of anyone taking a year out to do this, have you made sure it is doo-able if necessary? I also really don't mean this in a nasty way, so please don't take it that way, but perhaps if it is needed to take a year out to re-do GCSEs, you might not be able to cope with the two year a-level course?

Just some things to think about anyway

Thanks! It's not that I can't cope with GCSEs - it's that I picked two GCSEs that I am **** at because there were limited options - and these are the ones that could potentially eff up my results

Everyone's at least a little bit worried tbh Firstly, don't worry, there really is no point. Last January, I was really worried about my English Lit exams and I was certain that I did really badly. I also couldn't focus on other stuff that I was doing. I was proved wrong on result day, though. So I basically was worried and stressed for no reason at all. My point is that worrying is a waste of time; you don't know how you've done until results day You could resit your GCSEs whilst doing your A-Levels too, although there is little point in doing that

I'm sure at college theres some courses that you can combine 1/2 A-Levels and do your GCSE resit classes aswell, in the same year. You just wouldnt be doing as many A-Levels.

I'm really nervous too but just to give you some hope - last year in Year 10 I did 8 GCSE exams. I was seriously convinced that I did awfully. I spent the whole day before results day crying and wanting to escape to Africa or something. I got the shock of my life when I got pretty good results - I NEVER expected those results. Hopefully the same thing happens this year (weirdly I feel like it's going to turn out badly just for saying that -__- idk) but try not to think about it. I'm sure you will be fine!

Best thing to do is to try and chill out guys! Do things that will take your mind off the exam stress and when it gets closer to the day, realize that there's nothing you can do to change the outcome. Most people are quite negative beforehand (i.e. look at the worst case scenario) and tend to do much better than they expect.

'Bump' means to draw attention to a thread so it turns up on the 'most recent' list and thus more people may view and post back.

I had a scary dream last week,we were in the school hall and all our faces were projected onto a screen,if you got into your schools 6th form a tick would appear on your face if not a cross would appear

9:00 came and I saw a massive cross on my face which was then proceeded by the successful applicants riding massive white stallions and crushing the failures beneath the horses hooves I woke up just before my brain was crushed

If worst came to worst and you have to start college at 17 instead (i'm sure you won't ) don't let your age put you off. In year 10, some new people moved to our school, but because everyone had already started GCSEs, they had to be moved down a year. So now, when we start college in September, one of my friends will be a year older than everybody. It doesn't matter, because no one knows your age unless you tell them, and one year is not a massive difference anyway. Plus, because some people have birthdays at the start of september, they'll be 17 when they start too, so you won't stand out.
But I'm sure it won't come to that anyway. Just relax until results day

Haha this reminds me of when Hermione's boggart was basically McGonagall telling her she failed :P I don't even think I had any nightmares about results - just sleepless nights which is probably worse
