Re: What have you bought/are you planning to buy for uni?
I'm not starting mine till September, but priority items will be cutlery, crockery, fairy lights
, stationary, new bedsheets, some kitchen utensils, storage boxes and so on. Oh and emergency food supplies to keep in my bedroom like Pot Noodles, supernoodles, rice, biscuits, etc
Shall probably go to Poundland, 99p Store, Savers, Asda and charity shops to buy stuff

Re: What have you bought/are you planning to buy for uni?
i have this ottoman in my room at home:
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9020586.htm?CMPID=GS001&_$ja=tsi d:11527|cc:|prd:9020586|cat:home +and+furniture+%2F+storage+%2F+s torage+and+shelving+%2F+storage+ chests+and+trunks+%2F
Do you think i could take it to uni with me? Its quite handy i used it to keep all my a-level work in and i thought i would be good to have it in my uni room.I can fold it flat aswell so shouldnt be too hard to transport it. -

On a brighter note, it's made me decide I want some steak for tea, to the butchers!
To keep on topic though, bought a pack of 240 teabags while they were on offer the other day, that should last me for the first month at uni -
Re: What have you bought/are you planning to buy for uni?whilst rent is important, don't tell me u cannot feel its sexy siren call...i know u can - think of all the goodies that could be made on that! feel and hear and taste that sizzle which is bound to produce charred ( i hasten to add not burnt!) yumminess.(Original post by Mr Ben)

Re: What have you bought/are you planning to buy for uni?
I got a laptop. And it's purple!!! [s]banana2[/s I'm still trying to find things like cheap bath sets, bath mat, towel sets, all the ones i've found so far are either ugly or expensive grr it's driving me crazy. Who had any idea bathroom scales were so expensive?!
I've decided on my bathroom and bedroom themes; bathroom is Purple, black and apple green, bedroom is already fitted with a pink headboard and i have a massive stuffed sheep in white pink and brown so i'm going with brown, pastel blue and green duvet sets.
I'm getting a random framed picture from pound-stretcher to hang above my bed, and a bedside lamp in maybe brown so it matches with all my duvet covers, i'm also getting brown/black blinds. The headboard in my room is so horrible and i hate having to decorate my room around it

Anyway I am buying a new netbook mainly for lectures. I would rather a laptop for lectures than a pen and paper. -
Re: What have you bought/are you planning to buy for uni?
So much stuff that I want/need, but no money to buy it with.
Reckon I won't start getting stuff in until a couple of days before Freshers'
Have developed a slight obsession with notebooks though, and am determined to get this at some point http://www.etsy.com/listing/10125648...facet=notebook (I'm a French student)
On a more practical note, I've found things like 10 packs of (sadly) plain notebooks and 50 packs of biros... and WHSmith's are doing offers on a lot of things like lever arch files. -
Re: What have you bought/are you planning to buy for uni?
haven't bought anything yet, literally, not a spoon or mug or fairy light is to be seen in my shopping bags. i just really don't want to be disappointed on results day and then come home to find all this stuff that i no longer need

i wont be buying all that much anyway - i'm moving from London to St Andrews, and neither my parents nor i drive, so we'll be taking the train - i'll take a suitcase or two of stuff and then buy what else i need when i get there, i guess
-
Re: What have you bought/are you planning to buy for uni?I would suggest that you DON'T buy stuff in St. Andrews - if at all possible I would suggest trying to get into one of the surrounding towns (Dundee may be a stretch, I know, but there are other places round about St. Andrews) as it will be ridiculously expensive.(Original post by laurie:))

Or at least every time I've been into the village it's seemed extortionate. -
Re: What have you bought/are you planning to buy for uni?
I'm scared to tempt fate and get disappointing results...
I keep seeing things I like though, and my friend works in Argos and said I can use her discount... also a trip to Ikea (because Ikea is amazing!
) is a must
I think I'm more excited to buy all new stuff than actually going to uni

Re: What have you bought/are you planning to buy for uni?
It's so exciting to read what you guys are getting for uni, can't wait to start getting stuff myself, although have to wait for results day.. might not even get into uni
and if i get into my insurance choice I will have to fly to uni so no point in getting too much stuff..
Results day hurry up please?

Re: What have you bought/are you planning to buy for uni?I would definitely take it, I don't have one and have been contemplating buying one for uni but will probably wait to see if the storage stuff I've bought so far is enough. Extra storage space is always a bonus and you can use it as a seat too.(Original post by lara_ox)

i wouldnt really buy stuff from any independent shops cause the prices are quite high - its one of the most expensive places to live outside of london, in my opinion anyway
i might look into ordering some stuff to be delivered there if i need to though -
Re: What have you bought/are you planning to buy for uni?
Hey guys! I'm so excited to buy stuff for uni! Even though at the moment I'm pretty poor 'cause I'm saving for a laptop, do you think it's worth it getting a macbook air? As someone said above I really want a netbook for lectures, it just seems so much easier... and they look so good
-
Re: What have you bought/are you planning to buy for uni?You can get laptops with the same specs as a mac for much cheaper just because it doesn't have the apple logo on it, don't waste your cash, before I knew much about computers I went and got a mac and now regret it(Original post by holly-e)

They really aren't anything special unless you're an art student, and contrary to popular belief macs can now get virus' too!
You should invest in a cheap netbook if you're only gonna use it for note-taking and general browsing.

I recommend that, I own the blue version of this and it's very sleek looking and has never let me down, When I first got it I even ran games like World of Warcraft on it with no lag or issues and if you're prone to getting virus' it has a nice and easy factory restore option. It's nice and small too.
