Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese?
Adam Gemeli. Joke.
But seriously, if Bolt gets a good start, then he should win. 9.76 with minimal wind is far better than 9.75 with +1.1. Blake is without doubt the biggest threat though.
Some people clearly don't follow athletics and just look at WRs like they're run on a daily basis. It's unlikely Bolt will perform to his best; he's posted modest times in comparison to the build up to the last Olympics and 2009 World Championships. He also picked up a minor injury a few weeks ago, but he says he's ready to defend his titles.
Tyson Gay could be a threat but it's hard to tell because of limited races he's had this season. Many of them being in **** conditions.Last edited by TooEasy123; 24-07-2012 at 22:44. -
Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese? He's incapable, in your opinion. Don't get ahead of yourself dude, you don't know bolt will win for sure. Don't hype unnecessarily!(Original post by MattKneale)
I'm motivated to win the 100m final, does that mean I will?
Blake can want it all he likes, if he's physically incapable of matching Bolt's performances then it won't happen. And he is incapable, incidentally.

Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese?No, he is incapable -- Bolt has proven that he can run that quickly. Please provide evidence to suggest that Blake can match that level.(Original post by vn2009)

It's not hype when he is the current multiple WR holder for 200/100m and consistently the fastest man racing (other than a couple of glitches).
Blake is quick, and Jamaica will run away with the 4x100m relay, but he will not beat Bolt if thee are no false starts. -
Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese?He can't at the moment. Bolt isn't going to run WRs every time you know? Have you even followed the season? It's not about who has the best time.(Original post by MattKneale)

Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese?I have followed the season, and I never said he's going to run WRs every time he runs -- way to refute an argument I didn't make. The only slip ups he's made this season are the IAAF disqualification and losing to Gay on what was clearly a one off. His season best is still remarkable, so yes, I do believe he's by far the front runner. Blake has done nothing other than take advantage of Bolt when he was already disqualified and out perform him at the trials where we both know they both didn't bother turning up psychologically as they'd both qualify easily.(Original post by TooEasy123)

Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese?
Why do people think it's a competition between Yohan blake and usain bolt. Yohan has a pb of 9.75. Tyson Gay has a pb of 9.69. If anybody has a chance of between Usain bolt it will be Tyson and that is only if Usain bolt isn't on form or has a false start or another mess up or something.

Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese?You came across to me, and to everyone else, as if you were saying Bolt is 9.58 and Blake is 9.75, so it's already over. So whether you were arguing that or not, you weren't very clear about it.(Original post by MattKneale)

I beg to differ. In the trials, Bolt was trying hard, and gave up in the final 10m of the 100m, and final 20m of the 200m. And if you were really following, you'd know he recently picked up a minor injury after that 200m race.
The same outcome can easily happen again, especially if he gets a horrid start.
As for them definitely qualifying, I'd say that was true for the 200m, but not so much for the 100m. Nesta Carter can sometimes be a big threat, as can Frater. Not to mention many new sub10 sprinters.Last edited by TooEasy123; 25-07-2012 at 10:26. -
Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese?I get what you're saying, but he's recovering from surgery and hasn't had that many races this year, so it's hard to know if he's in similar shape to 2009. He's beaten Gatlin this year which is good news, but it was cold weather so the times didn't do justice.(Original post by . . .)

PBs don't mean anything. Powell has ran 9.72 with only 0.2m/s tailwind before, which is much better than Gay's 9.69 with 2.0m/s. But he can't perform under pressure.Last edited by TooEasy123; 25-07-2012 at 10:20. -
Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese?I really just don't see it happening on the big occasion. Yes he cocked up on the IAAF run but I think he's learnt from that. Time will tell and I'll happily swallow my words if Blake beats him, without a false start but I really just don't see it happening with the 100m(Original post by TooEasy123)

Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese?
I've been backing Blake ever since he won the Worlds last year. He has a much better start than Bolt, he's carrying all the form and is in confident mood.
Although, as we know one little false start could blow the field wide open. Dark horse has to be Justin Gatlin, Gay will have to impress early on as he's had injuries and I'm excited to see how our sprinter Adam Gemilli will do.Last edited by DotComBoom; 25-07-2012 at 15:59. -
Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese?He does have better starts, but from most of Bolt's bad starts there are very few losses because he regains so much ground around the 30-40m mark. I just keep thinking back to the WR (yes I know it was 2009...) and that start... oh my god. So good! If he can get his reaction time back to around 0.15s then he's in for an amazing shot.(Original post by DotComBoom)

Gemilli is a talent for the future, for sure. Let's just hope he doesn't follow Chambers' route eh? -
Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese?Blake is better. His technique is much better out of the blocks and he has a lot of power to exert from his muscular build. As much as Usain Bolt has a title, a slight mistake out of the blocks for him (ie. his upper body becoming unstable due to him pushing his feet out wide) could mean that Yohan Blake could take the win (depending on the standard of his other rivals that is). Definitely think this will be a close call though.(Original post by ralphieinker90)
Do you think Blake is actually a better sprinter than Bolt, or was Bolt just carrying an injury in the Jamaican Olympic trials?

Re: Who is going to win 100m, Blake, Bolt or someone ese?
Amazing how a population of only 2M can generate some top sprinters

Really want Bolt to retain his titles but Blake is just growing in confidence and of course, very fast out of the blocks.
Would be nice to a european in the final 100/200m....can't remember if there was one in beijing
