Re: Weird stuff you do (and wonder if other people do it too)
When I'm eating McCoys crisps, I have to check every single one to make sure it has no marks or breaks on it. Bizzare I know

I have to unplug everything in my room before I go to bed, if I don't I end up lying there thinking '****, what if the radio blows up'

More weirdness..
Whenever I eat a Jaffacake or Custard Cream (fave biscuits) I don't just jam them in my mouth ..I appreciate them.
With a JC I have to bite round the edges not catching any of the orange bit yet, lick the choc off the top then eat the soft bit THEN place the orange bit on my tongue and let it melt.
Ok with the CC I have to gently bite off the top by taking tiny bites then lick the cream ..😏 THEN again place the last bit of the biscuit on my tongue and let it melt.
You may frown, look down and shake but try it first it's the way forward lol

Re: Weird stuff you do (and wonder if other people do it too)wow, I do that all the time, thought I was the only one! Also, when I'm alone I have conversations with imaginary people (this has been gradually getting worse - i recently offered myself a cup of tea, and regularly have heated debates with myself), but when I'm in public I manage to keep these conversations inside my head (although my face doesn't realise it's just in my head, so my expression changes according to what's happening in my head and is completely unrelated to what is happening in real life... then my friends comment on the fact that I look like I'm talking to someone even when none of us are saying anything).(Original post by NapoleonDynamite)
When I'm in a car on a motorway I imagine someone running next to the car jumping over things and dodging obstacles.

Re: Weird stuff you do (and wonder if other people do it too)
Everything has to be symmetrical, ie. if I press a button on one side I then press the other side lightly to balance it out.
I also talk through my life as if I were giving an interview on a T.V. show
For some reason I sometimes think I'm being filmed, and that people know what I'm thinking, so I have to control my thoughts.Last edited by Amhorangerdgerriug; 23-07-2012 at 19:05. -
Re: Weird stuff you do (and wonder if other people do it too)
I smell books a lot. Especially new ones, with those glossy textbook like pages with those funny smells (I love them). People used to stare at me in school when I sniffed at the new textbook we'd just been given. Oh and I tend to smell everything that's new.
I also end up buying excessive stationary even if I don't need it.
Oh and I always eat around the edges of my sandwich/ burger and save the centre part for the last.
Also this is embarrassing but sometimes when I can't find what I'm looking for on Google I pretend I'm one of those FBI computer experts who's weary and is trying everything she can to hack into a cyber criminal's account.
I also have that balance thing between my right and left side. If my left foot presses down on a dark patch on the floor while walking, I make sure my right foot does too, so that I don't mess up the balance.
I also sometimes pretend to give an art tutorial to an imaginary crowd while sketching, and sometimes I take my digital pen with me out for a walk and pretend that it's a sonic screwdriver lol. Oh and I have a straight, thin wand- like stick that I found on the grass when I was younger, and always clutch it while reading Harry Potter. And I also just generally collect funny looking rocks and pebbles, shiny bits of crystals and oddly shaped wooden cones, etc.Last edited by saachi; 23-07-2012 at 20:11. -
Re: Weird stuff you do (and wonder if other people do it too)
The other day had a chicken kiev and curly fries in the oven, the curly fries were done but the kiev was still cold in the middle. Whacked it all back in the oven and by the time the kiev was done, the curly fries were burnt - I proceeded to say out loud to the kiev "oh you've ruined my dinner now you stupid prick."...

Re: Weird stuff you do (and wonder if other people do it too)
Oh good, I don't seem to be alone with my symmetry stuff lol I like to have things balanced - if I touch something with my right hand, then I have to touch it with my left. And then because I have done the pattern of right-left, then I have to balance that up with doing left-right... then to balance THAT up (right-left-left-right), I have to do left-right-right-left, and then touch the thing with both hands at the same time.
This is a common one (although I take it further) but if I step on a certain colour stone on the pavement, then I have to step on another one the same colour with the other foot. I will remember which colour I have to step on with which foot for ages until I see one!
I like numbers to be divisible by 3. Don't ask why 3, I started all this crap when I was really young, I've been doing it all my life! if there is a big list of numbers I will look at it to see if it all divides by 3 as one number. I used to do this in the car when I was younger with number plates passing - as in longer number plates in Ireland!
I have to land on the top or bottom step of the stairs on my right foot. I used to feel like I would fall over if I didn't but I'm improving.
Also, if someone would pick up the milk or something from the table at home and put it down again, I would be very uncomfortable if it wasn't put down in exactly the same place again. I would always move it very slightly to the left or right when I thought no-one was looking!
I have an OCD type thing with balance and things being equal. My counsellor is worried that it takes up a lot of time and concentration. He's probably right.
Less routine based things include ignoring everyone/everything in life when I have my earphones in and pretending there's a musical or show going on around me. i seriously hardly see the people around me!
I'm sure there's more... I'll think and get back to you

Re: Weird stuff you do (and wonder if other people do it too)I do that.(Original post by pyjamatrousers.)
I like the left and right side of my body to all be the same temperature.. i.e. if one hand is hotter than the other I try and cool it down until it feels "right" again -
Re: Weird stuff you do (and wonder if other people do it too)oh good, at least it's not just me(Original post by No Man)
I do that.

Re: Weird stuff you do (and wonder if other people do it too)
this doesn't happen often but it happened today which is why I thought of it. When ever people talk about tattos and mention them being "slightly raised" I have to stroke mine to see even though I know its perfectly smooth.
I actually googled this and there not really supposed to be raised its a sort of scaring from the artist going deeper than they should/is needed.
edit: this makes me look particularly odd because its on my back not my wrist or somewhere. I just stroke the highest bit on my neck though

Re: Weird stuff you do (and wonder if other people do it too)
I stretch my arm out sometimes while walking because I feel like my sleeve is too long and hanging past my wrist and I need to make it fall back... even when I'm not wearing long sleeves. It's pretty much a tick by now in that I do in regardless of what I'm wearing and don't even know about it. I doubt anyone else does that, unless there's a lot of really short people on TSR?

Re: Weird stuff you do (and wonder if other people do it too)
I have this thing that's almost like a tourettes tick. Doesn't happen often but sometimes if something pops into my head that reminds me of a time where I've ****ed up or been embarrassed, I automatically make a noise or swear or something, totally involuntary.
