Incentives to teach
Im just about to do an intensive driving course but for the last 6 weeks or so I've been having lessons with a guy from 4 wheelz after I paid for a 10 lessons for £100 quid deal. There was supposed to be 3 double lessons and the rest singles and I've had no double lessons yet.
Im basically creating this thread to warn you about the **** training you will most likely receive if you pay for one of these deals. He's cancelled on me a few times because of other lessons he put in my place (I'm not kidding), he never makes me do things like check my mirrors and so ive just had to learn to naturally do that by myself. We've done bay parking once and a turn in the road once and he now considers them to be done. I did the turn in the road yesterday and he says 'you've done these now, ull be fine' after ONE practice and he generally just gives off the impression that he doesn't care during the lessons about my driving. Don't get me wrong he's a nice guy and I get along with him, but it's so obvious that because he's only getting a small amount of money for these lessons, he doesn't consider them to be important. He even only give me 35 minutes yesterday and that just really pissed me off. Luckily, regardless of how bad his instructing has been I've taken to driving well but I'm sure even now after the 7/8 lessons I've had I would be a better driver if I'd learnt with someone else.
Has anyone had a similar experience? -
Re: Incentives to teach
My friend wanted a female instructor so just called the first one that sounded ok. It was 10 lessons for £99 and she's had the same experience. I'm not sure if she cancelled a lot but wouldn't teach her basic things and overcomplicated parallel parks etc. and would tell her she would have failed because she was 2cm too close or something ridiculous. I have a male instructor but asked him to recommend a female instructor because he's been doing it for about 23 years. She's now with someone else and loves it and has booked her test. I haven't had a good experience driving and I've almost given up at points but now I have a really good instructor, I look forward to lessons. I'd rather pay double for the lessons I have now than to have such a bad instructor.
Good luck on your driving course.
