Without knowing which university and specific degree you are considering it will be hard for anyone to advise you on the timetable specifics. Your best option is to contact the admissions tutor for the course you are interested in and ask, most will be able to give you a general idea.

I am not applying for zoology, however I asked all the unis I was interested in what the contact hours for each degree I was considering would be and all have fallen between 12 and 18 hours per week, all scheduled within the 9-5 day.

Obviously there is an expectation that you are going to need to spend varying amounts of time each week on top of this figure studying etc but personally for me currently going to college 18+ hours a week and studying at home gives me considerably more flexibility as a parent than I ever had working full time (and I was my own boss!) Each situation is different but for me personally being a student parent has given me far more time than being a working parent.

    Good luck.
