Chesil House 2012 - 2013
Couldn't see a thread for this anywhere else so I figured I'd put one up. I just got my place for Chesil in September and was wondering if anyone else has theres? Might make a Facebook group if this gets enough of a response and we can figure out who we'll be living with! Or not, it's all good.

Yup yup, just sent back the forms. Deposits to be paid and all that.
How many floors are there? I've got a lower number. I assume the first digit represents the floor and the second digit represents door number, then the letter on the end is the room designation?
how long did it take for you to hear back from them to whether you have been accepted in that halls or not? -
Re: Chesil House 2012 - 2013
I sent mine off sodding ages ago. Applied to uni February or March if I recall and heard back rather quickly. So accomodation I put in for that month. It said they weren't bothering with getting back to people about accomodation until July. I heard about mine the first week of July.
For that reason I'm probably useless to you. As That's quite a long turn around and I'd have been pretty much at the front. You can rest assured they're bloody busy this month though getting back to people. So if you've just put in for it you can expect a couple of weeks I reckon. If places haven't filled up that is. Don't fret

Re: Chesil House 2012 - 2013That's the assumption I made on the numbering too, not sure how many floors there are, from the artists impression it looks like 4 floors of flats but I could easily be wrong.(Original post by gdg2012)

My application was fairly recent too so I wouldn't sweat it, it shouldn't be long until you hear something back.(Original post by ibarnett1)
Hey, when did you send your application off for chesil? i sent mine off last friday but havent heard anything back yet. hope i get it!
When people start getting their rooms I'll set up a Facebook group so people can attempt to get to know the people they'll be living with better. A friend of mine did the same and he's already been in contact with all of his flatmates so it might be worth it depending on the interest. -
Re: Chesil House 2012 - 2013I'll be studying product design. Don't know which accommodation to apply though..dorchester or chesil..they both look great.(Original post by ibarnett1)

Re: Chesil House 2012 - 2013
I'm living in Chesil too. What number is everyone in? By the way, lower numbers don't necessarily mean lower floors. I went to Exeter uni for a while and was in a Signpost accommodation (same owners as Chesil) and it was in blocks so 42 was at the top and 39 at the bottom of one. Don't know if it's the same there but don't worry too much. What's everyone studying? Excited?

Re: Chesil House 2012 - 2013
Laura,
Perhaps you're right. From my understanding Chesil is just the one building situated in a stacked formation with the bottom floor being a common room of sorts. However a quick google shows it is in fact 6 floors and organised into 3 blocks. As such the block style numerical system would makes a great deal of sense, rather than the suggested floor by floor system (though 6 floors it is, and the highest room number anyone's dished out online is 67) - perhaps like you say it is similar to Exeter.
I've found a facebook page. There are only 3 people in it at the moment. However perhaps those reading this thread that are headed in the Chesil House direction come September would like to start populating it?

To add - this would appear to be the freshers group for 2012-13 - 184 members so far, and in fact for those who've strayed from other accomodation to this thread, the various facebook pages for those are also listed here:

You're welcome :PLast edited by gdg2012; 29-07-2012 at 08:47. Reason: Adding facebook pages -
Re: Chesil House 2012 - 2013It'll be on your contract when you get it through(Original post by T0MM3H)
How did everyone find out their flat/room numbers? I was allocated a room in Chesil House this morning after being on the waiting list from Unilets and the guy said that he wasn't allowed to tell me! :/
