So does batman die....... I found the answer. WARNING SPOILER!!!!
Warning the following spoiler contains the ending of The Dark Knight Rises!!!!!
Spoiler:ShowExtract taken from watch a lot
Bane's presence in The Dark Knight Rises should be an indicator of sorts if you are a fan of the comics. Bane is known for breaking Batman's back in the DC Comics. Similar to Christopher Nolan's Inception, where Leonardo DiCaprio spins the top and the film ends abruptly, you are left wondering did it topple or did it keep spinning?
In The Dark Knight Rises, Talia Al Ghul (Miranda Kate) appears and kills Bane after Batman wounds him. In order to prevent Bane's masterplan of using the Nuclear Fission Device developed by Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) from Wayne Enterprises to destroy Gotham, Batman puts it inside the Bat and flies it into Gotham River. The resulting explosion doesn't kill anyone and the remains of the Bat wash ashore, but Batman's body is never found.
Alfred (Michael Caine) is alone once more and decides to continue his travels around the world in his master's absence. When he visits Paris, an earlier memory in the film is alluded to where Alfred had discussed Bruce's happiness with him. Alfred sees a man in a cafe that looks like Bruce Wayne, and as he approaches him, he stops himself when he notices a woman that appears to be Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) seated next to him. He leaves, never learning if it is Bruce who had faked his death, or just a couple that resembles Bruce and Selina. It's more likely to be a metaphor for Bruce finally having found peace and happiness, so it would seem Batman dies.
The end of the film also features Officer John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who is still searching for Bruce Wayne, and ventures into the abandoned Wayne Manor after Alfred leaves. He discovers the concealed waterfall entrance into the Batcave, and trips switch, raising the platform wherein Batman's iconic outfit is stored.
Blake is also referred by his Christian name of Robin when he picks up a uniform that has been left behind by Wayne. This could be a lead into the next set of films.
EDIT: Apparently this ending is a bit wrong, post #3 is the correct version.Last edited by Foghorn Leghorn; 23-07-2012 at 16:03. -
Re: So does batman die....... I found the answer. WARNING SPOILER!!!!Err, no, that isn't what happens. If you really want to know, here you are:(Original post by Foghorn Leghorn)
Warning the following spoiler contains the ending of The Dark Knight Rises!!!!!
Spoiler:Show
WARNING - THIS WILL RUIN TDKR IF YOU READ IT.
Spoiler:Show- Catwoman kills Bane, just before Bane is about to kill Batman. This is just after Batman has been stabbed by Miranda Tate (Cotillard), who it is revealed was the child that escaped Bane's prison, not Bane as is implied for the entire movie.
- No one is able to stop the detonation of the fusion bomb, so Batman takes it out to sea with the Bat. It is implied that Batman gives his own life in the process, although it is later revealed to Fox that Bruce secretly fixed the previously-broken autopilot on the Bat.
- Earlier in the film, Alfred tells the story of how he went to Florence every year after Bruce disappeared, hoping to see Bruce sitting in a cafe with a wife, free of the shackles of Batman and Gotham. He goes once more at the end of the film, and sees Bruce, who visibly acknowledges Alfred, sitting with Selina (Catwoman) at a table.
- John Blake's name is indeed revealed to be Robin, and he ventures to the Wayne Manor's cave where he is swarmed by bats (a la Bruce) and discovers the Batcave's secret. This is probably the only loose end of the film, leaving the audience to decide for themselves whether this is the birth of superhero Robin or the birth of a new Batman, or neither.Last edited by Student2806; 20-07-2012 at 02:11. -

Re: So does batman die....... I found the answer. WARNING SPOILER!!!!No, I don't honestly understand how people can keep saying this; the ending nicely and fittingly provided a rather open conclusion to an epic film.(Original post by Foghorn Leghorn)
Oh ok. So what did you think because the ending sounds rather dull.
Spoiler:ShowLarge amounts of what Student said was revealed in the film and is easily found when you think about it for a bit. Batman obviously got out of the 'Bat' probably just as he blew a hole in a building, by the bridge. As far as we know the thing could have a jet-seat or emergency exit (like in fighter planes), which is most likely, and he activated it just as he fired the rockets to cause the explosion, or he jumped out while it went through the building. I think the former is true because, if you look carefully, there was a little time gap between the explosion and the 'Bat' leaving.
The ending, in my opinion, nicely concluded the fantastic trilogy, and showed a much more human side to Bruce Wayne, and also helped to open up the story of Batman and Robin. I don't think Nolan will make another film (he said he's definitely finished with Batman), and I don't think another one is necessary; The Dark Knight Rises is a midway point between Batman's original adventures and his adventures with Robin. For any viewer, fan of the comics or not, it is a fantastic way to end such a fantastic film, though this is my view.
It was released here on the 19th.
