Pretty much all the top ones 'want' it, but that doesn't mean you don't have a chance without it.

If I remember correctly, not many universities ask for it.
UCL, Cambridge, Warwick dont ask for further maths. For LSE, I dont think its compulsory but having it will probably boost your chances of getting in.
    Feel free to correct me.

Some Cambridge colleges say that they prefer applicants to have Further Maths. Warwick used to give a different offer if you had Further Maths (not sure if this is still the case though).

For all the people saying LSE needs further maths - its a lie! I recieved an offer for Econ without further maths. All they'd ask you is why you didn't pick it - and telling them that you felt more comfortable concentrating on getting the A* in normal maths with all your other subjects rather than risking failing will be a good enough reason for them as it shows you still have the basic knowledge

Why the negs... :| i'm speaking for experience, don't neg me if you don't have a clue what you're on about.

LSE want people who are confident enough in Maths that they don't worry about getting their A*. Since they don't interview I am wondering how they asked you about your reason for not doing FM.

Generally speaking the only acceptable reason for not doing FM is that your school doesn't offer it or you realised it was important too late. But they will look for someone who is very confident with maths and was capable of doing FM as this will be needed to do well in the course.

Look through every single one of my threads then, and look through every single one of my comments i've written within these types of topics.. You'll realise that i did intensive A levels, was rejected by LSE due to me not giving my jan results in by the deadline they set me, i appealed due to mitigating circumstances, their rejection was withdrawn, and i got offered a place. If you like to check up on things, you should check up everything before making assumptions. Thanks

Alright, fair enough - I found one of your other posts saying you managed to get an offer from LSE (well done by the way - I hardly ever hear anyone being able to get LSE to change their minds). Sorry that I didn't look hard enough.

Oh, and I might see you at the Canary Wharf office next year.

Haha it's not a problem! And thanks, it was hard to get it done, but it was their fault they didn't specify by when i had to send over my jan results to them! I literally made them feel like sh*t so they had to offer me a place

Ahh do you work there? I'll look around for an Alex, i'm sure there'll be too many of the same name though!

If you perform exceptionally well in Maths and your other subjects , FM wont even matter

I see, due to you doing your A-levels in one year, I think I get it now.

I'm starting work there in October. But yes, I have a boring common name so even that doesn't narrow it down much (on the Facebook group for new joiners there's at least another couple of Alexs).

They all want further maths. Just like all guys want a girl with great tits. But they will settle for less as long as other things are in shape
