    Babysitting/Childminding over Summer for a 16 year-old
I'm currently at home for quite a while until I go on holiday in August, and would like to earn some money instead of being really bored while not really doing anything. It occurred to me today that some of my friends childmind, though I'm not really able to contact them to ask about how they went about doing it; does anybody here have any experience of childminding at this age, or can anybody advise me of the best way to get part-time work as a childminder?

Flyers and posters are a good start, and make sure you make the most of any contacts you may have already!

Start by baby-sitting for people you know. If you do a good job, they'll recommend you to people they know, and so forth. There are a few websites advertising people who need babysitters but I'd be slightly wary of those

    Okay, thanks

I'll try to think of people that I could baby-sit for!

I'm 14 and I babysit occasionally. Start by asking your parents if any of their friends have children who need babysitting. Then work your way up from there x

I did a lot of baby sitting when I was 16 for various neighbours and friends of friends. There are reputable agencies to join up with these days who do require you to be CrB checked, qualifed and have use of a car, they do pay well though.
As for childminding this is a completely different ball game because as soon as you care for children who are not related to you in your own home you have to be inspected by OfSted, have a CRB check, produce risk assessments and policies and make sure your house is fitted with child locks.
However, I don't think you mean this, I just wamted to point out the difference.
I would suggest you try and get your first sitting job with someone you know too, so you can get known, and build a reputation I got a lot of work from word of mouth, it also helped that I was training to be a nursery nurse.
