They aren't doing this. Its a completely misleading title - you need to read the article. Its a payment to charities that manage to get long-term unemployed young people into work, training or education for at least six months.

I read past the headline and its still a poor scheme, as another poster said why exactly should the tax payer be funding such outlandish schemes to get those who obviously dont want to work into an already incredibly squeezed job market where there are millions who'll do anything to find a job whilst these wasterels are sitting at home not giving a damn? in a boom fair enough help those who need helping and refuse to help themselves but given the current climate this is a spectacular waste of money however you look at it...

Get them out of bed so they can do... what? There are **** all jobs for young people, especially in the north east. Put that money into job creation schemes and make sure there's meaningful work to get up and do, and those teenagers will be up and on time without Nick Clegg patronising them.

The difficulty is if any of them are forced into jobs they don't want to do, or not sent in the direction that would be most beneficial for them, that is hardly going to inspire them to a life of work.

The government mustn't have much confidence if they say the neet has to be in position or training after a 6 month period.

As usual, that is all target setting nonsense and if I was a neet and had enough brainpower to realise that, I think I would just stay on the dole to spite them and their target setting. I certainly wouldn't be doing any old job just to satisfy them that's for sure.

Isn't it? The govt invests on a service, the service creates jobs, people become employed and earn a wage, they spend their wage on products, the companies that sell the products employ more people thus creating a multiplier.

This is a waste of the taxpayers money. We waste tax on benefits, a failing NHS, a poor education system, not supporting Universities so causing an increase in tuition, giving money to EU students studying here (they should pay more than British students).

Why do the government waste money on schemes that are pointless and an obvious waste of money. Nick Clegg is an idiot along with 99.9% of the UK's Politicians.

That if there exist such degenerates that need to be woken up by society and encouraged to work, then society and authority has failed. Cut benefits to those who are unable to find work for x amount of time. Many are just too stupid to understand that they are not suitable for a job of investment banking or being a doctor and cannot accept that unless they pursue further education and dedicate themselves to learning, the best they can hope for is cleaning the street or serving another food.
