Girls who are proud of their naturally curly manes: what works for your curls?
My hair is probably the longest curly hair you've ever seen haha. Its thigh length as it stands. I don't use many products besides a leave in conditioner and occasional hot oil treatment. It annoys me so much to see people online always recommending how to get straight hair. Some of us love our curls! Right?

So what works for you to enhance your mane?

Mine's probably a different texture to yours because i'm mixed-raced so it's afro-ish, but I use the Treseme conditioners for curly hair and the Herbal Essences shampoo (it's the red one, but I can't remember what it's called. ) Then I style it with either Treseme or Boots own brand mousses and sprays, depending on how close to pay day it is...

I grew up wishing I had straight hair but now I don't mind it - at least it's never boring!

I love girls with curly/wavy hair. Why they feel the need to straighten it is beyond me.

Well, I love curly/wavy hair too, and I straighten mine when I want a change..just as girls with straight hair curl theirs.

I have waves and curls, it's well known with all my friends. When I'm working (we all live together at work) everyone wakes up in the morning excited to see how my hair has turned out over night.

I wash it with cold water and a godiva shampoo bar from lush, then I use toni and guy nourishing conditioner and a whole host of their other nourishing products depending on how my hair feels.

It's always really REALLY dry, so I use a nourishing mask three times a week.

    No blow-dries, no straighteners, nothing.

I got my first pair of straighteners at 10 years old because I hated my curls, at 21 years old, I now love them and never straighten my hair. I'm so glad I have my curls.

Of course haha! Thank-you! Hope the pictures suffice. I was told in my younger years to straighten/cut my hair but I'm 18 now and very glad I was always happy with my curls!

I have a friend with hair just like yours but shorter, I think it's beautiful hair mine's in between curly & wavy - a lot of people think I curl it but I don't so I suppose that's a compliment

I like the wavy/curly look on a woman; it just looks like they have a lot of life in them. Not saying straight haired women don't, but curls are very pretty

Naya Rivera and Eva Longoria in particular :P

My hair is SUUUUPER curly, lots of tighter smaller curls, and it's really cute! I love Tresemme Naturals (fav conditioner) and Giovanni's deep conditioner. I also like Shea Moisture products (keeps my hair really well moisturized, and makes the curls POP!) I straightened my hair for 16 years and only recently decided I wouldn't anymore. I'm really glad I did too, I love my hair!

Love my curls, used to despise them...so when at 16 I started wearing my hair curly every day (straight fringe...or I'm Jedwards unknown triplet) everyone wanted to know how I did it...you can imagine faces when the answer "got in the shower" was given.

I straighten it when it's hot out, since it's easier to plait or put hair off the face, but that's the only time it's straight. My hairs more like a lions mane though, in colour and size. I get a few ringlets underneath, but mostly waves. It's gotten to the point where I can spray some leave-in conditioner and let it dry, using mousse to tame some crazy bits when it's dry.
Oh, and moroccan/argan oil has become my best friend

I agree with you 100%. I know girls who won't be caught dead with their natural hair. It's funny in a way, hearing people talk about how much they hate their curly or wavy hair, as if they don't notice my own super wavy hair. I'm not sure if it was like this everywhere, but at least in the US, when I was growing up, stick straight hair was definitely considered the ideal hair type. Somehow, having any sort of other texture was considered less pretty. I remember when I was in 6th grade, a guy saying I looked like I had an afro, meaning it in a negative way. It makes me happy that it seems we're starting to expand our definitions of beauty. I personally love having wavy hair. I use coconut oil masks every few days and sometimes mix in jojoba oil. Most days I'll use a silicone serum on the ends of my hair while it's still wet. That's about it.

I am absolutely in love with my curls! I don't care how narcissistic I might come across, but only recently have I learned to love them! :ahee:
When I was younger my mum would always brush my hair so my curls would turn into a huge frizzy mess and I lack all confidence because of it. When I was in my pre/early teens I started straigtening my hair and as a result, it went a little thin. Only in the last year or two have I started leaving it curly and found that I prefer it like that, as do all of my friends and family. Recently I started using coconut oil due to a myriad of benefits! I love it and recommend everyone who has curly hair to start using it because our hair is probably the hardest type to lock moisture in and apparently coconut oil is one of the best natural products you can use to do that!

I love my curls when they behave but sometimes they can be really difficult to control! I find washing my hair more often helps as it looks best when I just after I let it dry naturally. I tend to only brush it when wet otherwise it goes all weird and kinda frizzy. Moose is helpful I find. Also HEAT= FRIZZ!!! I can't use hair dryers because i end u being a big frizzy ball of fluff! lol

i know what you mean! My mum used to always brush my hair and it went so so frizzy and I used to get bullied for it so I started straightening it when I was in year 8.

Wasn't until my second year of college I started wearing it curly, mainly because I couldn't be bothered any more and it became more fashionable. Ive had to learn how to get the best from it though. I have to blow dry to get it really curly and full looking. I still straighten my fringe and flatten done to top a little bit. If I'm going out I'll curl some of it too to give it a bit of a lift.

I use Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo and conditioner and Aussie Colour Deep Conditioner every other time as I colour it red.

I love the red of it too, i have really dark brown hair naturally and refuse to bleach it or anything so the red goes really deep and rich because it mixes with the brown. A women come up to me in the street the other week and said she loved to colour of it and wanted to know what colour I used on it.
