    Accommodation Payments Problems - UNITE
    Hi.

So basically I've got two problems, the first being the paying for the deposit. I don't have sufficient money in my bank account but, my parents do. Who will be paying the deposit for me and I will be repaying them. Although once I enter the details of my parents, will they also get paid for the instalments? As this is NOT what I want. I want the instalments to come out of MY bank account not my parents, just the deposit to come from there's.

Secondly, my loans do not come in until 8 days after my first instalment is due. I intend to phone up and query this whether I can have an extension until my loans are paid.

The rent payment will probably be separate to the deposit so they'll ask for details separately. If not you should be able to change the bank details fairly easily. If you don't want to do that, why not get your parents to pay the money into you account and pay it from there?

It is quite common for the loan to come in after the first instalment is required. You can either negotiate with them, borrow from parents again or use your student loan overdraft which you should have access to by that point. Most student bank accounts come with a significant interest free overdraft which helps deal with this sort of cashflow problem.

    Hi all,

I've had a problem today with Unite Students Reading.

I paid my first installment via online payment yesterday as I was told and it went through okay - this morning my mum (guarantor) and I received an email saying payment had failed.

I called my bank and they said it had been approved and gave me the approval code if unite query it further. I tried to speak to someone at Unite through option 1 (current customer) but they apparently aren't answering calls today as they're too busy!!!! I dial 3 for help - they send me back to customer services which is option 1! Email my contact, no reply.

I look in my invoice area and it said my balance is £0.00 but that the payment failed on the notes. Natwest told me unless Unite accept the payment in 2 working days the money will drop back into my account!

No idea what to do as I can't even speak to anyone!!!

    Anyone else experienced this?

    Hi harrietburrows,

My names Frankie I work for UNITE.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had trouble getting through.

Please bear with us, we are answering calls but due to the time of year we are experiencing a really high call volume.

We’re open until 9pm tonight, or alternatively if you send me a PM with your name and contact details I can arrange for someone to give you a call.

    I hope this helps,

    Frankie
