Wouldnt the UKs financial centre be Canary Wharf rather than the City?
People always seem to say the City of London is the UKs financial premier financial district but wouldnt it be more accurate to say that Canary wharf is? i mean in terms of whose based where from what i've seen the City doesnt seem to come out on top with only a few financial institutions compared to Canary Wharf which has the Largest banks in the world in it such as BNY Mellon, Citi, J P Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Credit suise, Barclays, HSBC etc. etc.
Please correct me if im wrong just curious

Some of the banks at canary wharf also have offices within the city as well. A lot of smaller boutiques/ hedge funds/ brokers etc are not based in canary wharf either. As the guy above said, quite similar

I would also point out that 'insurance' is also classified under financial services, and they are pretty much clustered together in the city, with some of the worlds biggest names and organisations.

Not sure what you are implying but, I though City was the financial center but when I had a conversation with my mother she said no it's Canary Wharf, being unsure of her being correct, I simply did some research on the net...I do not think it's that interesting to know really but it nice to be sure on things.
