    G4S 'Scandal' a massive media blow-up!
I'm so sick of hearing about the failures of G4S on the news!! I feel its taking focus away on excitement for the games, and a lot of people aren't aware it starts next week! It's doubtless that something would have gone wrong, but the government have intervened by supplying troops so it's going to be fine...

AND THEN the media blows up the poor standards of temporary accommodation for the troops, when the reality is this is what soldiers are trained for, and the majority of them have experienced things in afghanistan 100x more horrific than living in a damp pre-fab hut.

but the fact is we have paid G4S an awfull lot of money for their services and they have completley ****ed up many of these soldiers have just returned from Afghanistan and would have been expecting a holiday to see their families instead they are being punished for other people's **** ups and lazieness. Just because soldiers have to deal with allot of **** while in Afghanistan doesn't mean you can just treat them like dirt yes they can survive it but it's still not right they are just being taken advantage of and are recieving no extra pay for it but they are like the only profession that cannot strike. Not to mention many of these soldiers have been told they will lose their jobs pretty soon.

So G4 can't do the job,and the Army should not do the job, so in your opinion who should do the job?

Yes it is true some of the soldiers are having their leaves cancelled, but G4S are paying them. So basically it's just G4S's employment system that had messed up, nothing more major than that.

Also, my father is in the military and it is not uncommon for his leave to be cancelled. It's a fact of being in the military. As is assisting your country in times of need (the reason they can't strike), it's what you sign up for. Once youve experienced a life in the military having leave cancelled is the least of your worries.

G4 should be able to do the job if they decided to take this job. the army should not do the job, but they have to. Shame on G4S and let just hope that the army can keep us all safe

British media tend to blow everything out of proportions, they did the same with Euro this year, but it was all fine.

While I agree that G4S has ****ed up (and I should know, I work for them - only security though, I'm nothing to do with managing staff) it is very clever how the media and government have spun it, and blatently obvious too. Because of staff recruitment and a MASSIVE media storm of abuse, G4S will will be used to accuse of any security issue during the olympics. So if something goes wrong the government can shift all blame onto a private security company. Of course if something goes right, they'll spin it so it was the government doing something right.

G4S has screwed up but yes it has gone massively out of proportion. As if it's even being called a 'scandal'!? It's not a scandal - just a screw up.

It was described as a scandal like two weeks ago in the news, old news now anyway.
