Job interview at zara
ok basically i had an interview at zara about a week and 2 days ago now, i rang them yesterday and they said that they are still doing interviews but if i dont hear within a week then i have not been successful!
I am not sure whether that might be a lie, because she said to me at the interview a week ago she will call within a week if i have been successful?? not sure whether to just give up and start looking elsewhere. -
Re: Job interview at zara
The retail job I have now said they'd decide by the Saturday but I didn't hear till Tuesday. Point being, don't give up hope! Sometimes managers are busy in store and unable to focus on recruitment for a few days.
Either way, don't stop searching for a job just because you're waiting on this one. Keep looking, you can always turn a job down if you get more than one. -
Re: Job interview at zara
First of all, it's actually good that you followed it up, when I followed up a job interview when I heard nothing, I got the job. Anyway, just because you haven't heard back yet, it doesn't mean you haven't got the job, if you don't get called on the last day, then start looking elsewhere, good luck, I hope you get the job
-
Re: Job interview at zaraSo true, I never apply for one retail job at a time. I like to apply for many of the same position in different companies and just hope I get a call back for at least one because there are hundreds of people applying for the same position and the competition is fierce nowadays.(Original post by tamimi)
With retail, you're not supposed to sit and wait. You're meant to be looking for jobs simultaneously.
Before I got my job (in retail), I had 5 interviews in one week, all in different companies for different positions. It's the only way to ensure you're doing all you can.
All I'm saying if keep you options open, don't put all you eggs in one basket. -
Re: Job interview at zaraI've had one before, is this you first 'interview' for Inditex?(Original post by MandyA)
omg i have a job interview with Inditex tomorrow or any time this week. Any interview tips? what would it be like? i've never had a group job interview before. i've never even been to a retail interview.
If so, relax. It's not really an interview as such, it's just an assessment process where you would be invited to the head office along with 20+ other applicants. You will sit in a larger room, watch a video about the company for about 20 minutes, they will ask you questions but to be honest don't bother answering because they won't remember your name or face. Then they will ask you to fill out an application form, hand in your CV and ask you how much retail experience you have and tell you they will be in contact with you within a week for an actual group interview.
If you pass this 'selection process' then you will be asked to come in for a group interview with about 15 other people. This is what happened in my interview but yours may differ. The interview asked us to sit in a circle introduce ourselves to the rest of the groups, then afterwards we were put into teams and given a task to design an outfit for a celebrity going to an event of our choice. The interviewer told us to use our knowledge of current trend, Zara clothing and basic celebrity fashion awareness.
P.S. If you interview is in the Regent's Street head office, be aware it looks very flashing, white walls, bright lights modelling agency type venue. Just don't let that put you off or get you nervous because I didn't know what to expect and I was star-strucked when I walked through the door.
and good luck!!!

Re: Job interview at zaraThat's incorrect. The whole point of a group interview is to see who stands out, and the only way you can do that is to do your research and make sure you go in knowing as much as possible about the company, their ethos and the latest trends in fashion so you can answer as many questions as possible to make yourself noticed. Also, I made sure to pack away slowly and thank the recruitment manager who was running the group interview for the opportunity. That's what I, and many of my friends who've had group interviews have done and we've all got jobs in Zara, Monsoon, and many other shops that require retail experience even though we have none. I got a call back for a one-on-one interview the day after my group interview, and got a job offer a few hours after my interview.(Original post by Swindon)

It's not a group interview, I clearly stated it is a SELECTION PROCESSS. This is the first stage of Inditex's recruitment process. This call you up and tell you this on the phone so that they do not think it is an interview, but I do recommend to dress smart and no the don't recommend hardly anyone's faces in a room for of 25 people that you have been talking to for 10 minutes. Indite just want to know that people are serious about the job you have applied for a to create a profile of you, I think it's pointless really but that's how they do it. After you've passed the selection process you will THEN be invited to a GROUP INTERVIEW that is when you have to show off you talents and attributes because group interviews are very demanding and you are all competing for the same job.(Original post by Doodlemon)

I have mine tomorrow at 3 @ Regent Street and was told it was an group interview, guessing this is not just the selection process thing Swindon was talking about where you just fill in some forms.

Re: Job interview at zaraBasically, there was a group of 15 people and you go to the place, they ask you for a photocopy of your ID and the original and they double check it and stuff. Then you go into the room which is classroom size with chairs arranged in a horse shoe shape. The interviewer stands in the middle and you get given forms to fill in to choose when you want to work, what stores you're avaliable for etc. Then they collect these forms, your CV and a the copy of your ID.(Original post by jardim)

Then the actual interview beings. It starts off with them asking you what you know about Zara/Indetix - so just stick your hand up and give them some general facts and figures (I can send some notes I made on the company if you want, just PM me). Then you will watch a short video on Indetix and then the interviewer will ask for feedback and just basically ask more questions about Zara/Indetix, so it's good to know as much as possible about them (the interview is more about Indetix than Zara TBH).
After that, the interviewer gave us scenarios such as "A customer has asked you for opinion on a dress she looks awful in but she thinks she looks amazing." What would you tell her etc. No right or wrong answer IMO but good to back up your answer with a good reason. Then she asked that the same said customer came back the next day with the ripped dress as it had been too small for her. The customer is livid and wants a full refund, how would you deal with this customer? Those kind of questions.
Some other people have mentioned they were put in small groups and asked to come into design an outfit for a celebrity etc.
Also at the interview, a big emphasis is put on what is on trend for this summer, what's in for next Autumn/Winter so make sure to do good research on trends/designers etc.
And yeah that's about it, my advice is just to try and say as much as possible, just have your hand up at all times but not come across as annoying if that's possible.
If you want any more advice or some notes I made on Zara, just PM me.
Good luck! -
