Going on holiday but need to sign on..
I'm new here, so dont even know where to post this so no one come at me with the sarcastic ****, just because you're on the other side of screen.
But yeah, I'm currently on JSA but have a holiday coming up, and i need to sign on bang smack in the middle! So obviously i cannot attend.
Has anyone had the same problem before? I've read that they just sign you off whilst you're away and sign you back on when you return which is pretty fair.
*was also told not to tell the job centre you're going abroad, but if i say im staying here what if they ask me to go to another job centre or email/phone or something*
And before people start calling me a "tramp" or saying how im not entitled to a holiday, can suck a fart from my arse.
I was working the day after my 16th birthday part time around college, got made redundant 14 months later. Had a job for 2 months for the christmas and sales period then the contract ended. Then went a year ish without a job. I saved ALOT and have quite a fair bit sitting in the bank. And my parents work full time (mum's a teacher and dad's sainsbury's store manager) so I dont live on a ratty council estate wearing umbro and fake ralph lauren clothing.
Not to mention i now work part time as a receptionist in a leisure centre. So dont judge!
Hit me back if you've been in the same position as me or had a friend etc... Cheers, J xLast edited by JEZARONLINE; 21-07-2012 at 13:58. -
Re: Going on holiday but need to sign on..Because the majority of people on here and other forums turn around with come backs such as, "how can you afford to go on holiday if you don't have a job" etc plus the usual **** like you spend your money on drink and drugs blah blah. Everyone's stereotypical, I'm pretty sure someone reading this is on jsa and gets looked at as one of the guys who appears on Jezza..lol(Original post by MissLightyear)
You're asking people not to judge, but you've decided anyone else on JSA lives on a council estate? -
Re: Going on holiday but need to sign on..I work 5 hours p/w and any cover shifts available. People are leaving toward the end of August so more regular shifts hopefully heading my way.(Original post by Elissabeth)
Just out of interest, how can you still be claiming JSA if you are now working part-time as a receptionist? -
Re: Going on holiday but need to sign on..Please enlighten me; where is the fraud?(Original post by Cephalus)
Benefit fraud =O -
Re: Going on holiday but need to sign on..Going on holiday with my parents hard earned money..(Original post by Cephalus)
Going on holiday on the taxpayers dime... -
Re: Going on holiday but need to sign on..lol I joke it's too late (or early) for me to give any sensible reply to a question =](Original post by JEZARONLINE)

Re: Going on holiday but need to sign on..Regardless, you aren't allowed to work while claiming the JSA, are you?(Original post by JEZARONLINE)

Re: Going on holiday but need to sign on..Less than 16 hours a week you are, although you lose a small amount of benefit for it(Original post by Elissabeth)
Regardless, you aren't allowed to work while claiming the JSA, are you? -
Re: Going on holiday but need to sign on..yeah you can if you work less than 16 hours per week(Original post by Elissabeth)
Regardless, you aren't allowed to work while claiming the JSA, are you? -
Re: Going on holiday but need to sign on..Yeah as others have said if you do under 16 hours. Then they deduct your earnings from jsa. Say I earned £40 from working I'd only get £15 from the job centre. Some weeks I've earned more than what id get from the job centre therefore not claimed the benefit.(Original post by Elissabeth)
Regardless, you aren't allowed to work while claiming the JSA, are you? -
Re: Going on holiday but need to sign on..If you have enough money for a holiday you shouldn't be worrying about JSA. Besides, you're not exactly job seeking when you're in a different country.(Original post by JEZARONLINE)

But if you post on a public forum you have to expect that some people will be judgemental and have pre conceptions and say them.(Original post by JEZARONLINE)

Re: Going on holiday but need to sign on..If you read I didn't say I was worried at all. Just wanted to know do they sign me off and reclaim when I return, or sign on before I go and when I return and loose a weeks pay.(Original post by harrietx123x)
