gcse private candidate
Hi tsr
I'd like to take a gcse or igcse separately from my courses at school. my reasons being 1. I'm going to be bored over the summer 2. the procrastination bug hit me and I achieved some unexpected low grades in a few things this year, want to make myself feel better for it 3. I guess I'm a bit of a nerd. I'v been doing a little digging on the internet, but I cannot find any solid information about what courses are on offer, how I go about sitting them and what I need to learn. so basically I am appealing to you for this information.
I am a so called "gifted and talented student" in all but languages, so I am open to anything that isn't a language, and I am more than willing to self teach. I know some people will say "move on, enjoy your summer", and this is a valid point, but this is something I'd really like to do.
Thankyou -
Re: gcse private candidate
Hey

What year are you in? If you're in year 11, you may as well look ahead at some A-Level stuff instead of doing another GCSE. Anyway, if you're sure, these websites may be useful for information:
AQA:

OCR:
http://pdf.ocr.org.uk/download/learn...and_guide.pdf? (Private candidate information)
http://pdf.ocr.org.uk/download/admin...list_2012.pdf? (Fees information)
Edexcel:

Good luck

Re: gcse private candidateNo problem(Original post by Tronick)
Thankyou very much!
I'm in year 10, year 11 after the summer.
how would I go about finding a centre to sit it at?
Could you not sit it privately at your current school? -
Re: gcse private candidateWell in that case, you may have to do some research online to find a nearby centre.(Original post by Tronick)
That's out of the question. I go to a small, rather poor comprehensive who barely manage to teach the core subjects. I have broached my physics teacher with it, who virtually laughed me out of his classroom.
