    gcse private candidate
    Hi tsr
I'd like to take a gcse or igcse separately from my courses at school. my reasons being 1. I'm going to be bored over the summer 2. the procrastination bug hit me and I achieved some unexpected low grades in a few things this year, want to make myself feel better for it 3. I guess I'm a bit of a nerd. I'v been doing a little digging on the internet, but I cannot find any solid information about what courses are on offer, how I go about sitting them and what I need to learn. so basically I am appealing to you for this information.
I am a so called "gifted and talented student" in all but languages, so I am open to anything that isn't a language, and I am more than willing to self teach. I know some people will say "move on, enjoy your summer", and this is a valid point, but this is something I'd really like to do.
    Thankyou

    Hey

What year are you in? If you're in year 11, you may as well look ahead at some A-Level stuff instead of doing another GCSE. Anyway, if you're sure, these websites may be useful for information:

    AQA:

    OCR:
    http://pdf.ocr.org.uk/download/learn...and_guide.pdf? (Private candidate information)
    http://pdf.ocr.org.uk/download/admin...list_2012.pdf? (Fees information)

    Edexcel:

    Good luck

    No problem

Could you not sit it privately at your current school?

That's out of the question. I go to a small, rather poor comprehensive who barely manage to teach the core subjects. I have broached my physics teacher with it, who virtually laughed me out of his classroom.

Well in that case, you may have to do some research online to find a nearby centre.
