Re: Is anybody else bored with social networking sites?
Im the same I havent had faccebook for nearly a year now after realising I considered people who posted on my wall or facebooked chatted me as 'friends' yet as soon as I got rid of it only about 2 picked up the phone and spoke to me. I think its scary that we are creating a society when nobody has no social skills as everythings just over the internet, Im also very anti the cyber bullying which I saw all over facebook when I had it and I was a victim of it myself, its so easy for people to be cruel and wicked behind a computor screen when infact in real life they wouldnt have the balls to say it to you face. My life is much simplier happy and better now I dont have facebook, I just have twitter which i hardly use

Re: Is anybody else bored with social networking sites?
Definitely agree! All I use Facebook for is organising group events and uploading photos from days/nights out (into a private photo album that only my actual friends can see; it's up to them whether they tag photos and make them public). I rarely check my news feed now, too. I think the main reason I dislike it is because there are far too many vain people on it.
For example: chubby girl takes photos of herself with her bra (and nipple in 1) hanging out, as she leans forward infront of a mirror with a hideously trashy dress on and horrible extensions which are literally 1 inch thick (they resemble rat tails more than hair)... I don't want to see this! To be honest it's not even just the few like that, it's the ones who...
- do passive aggressive status' ("I'll kick your head in" followed by nothing)
- jump on the bandwagon purely because it's "cool"; think KONY etc
- those who use hash tags on fb seriously annoy me too
- people who upload lots of photos of themselves
- "photographers" who make fb pages when their photos are crap
- people who check in EVERY where they go
- the cliched posts ("had such a good night last night with ---- and ----")
- the ones who post about how great their night is real time... Oh really? Why are you on fb then?
The list goes on :'( -
Re: Is anybody else bored with social networking sites?
My last post on FB was late January this year and although I still have my account I have considered having it removed as I simply do not use it or find any of what is going on there interesting.
I used to use Twitter for SEO/website promotion etc. but also not anymore. Nowadays I just do not use any of it. -
I have Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram.
I got Facebook in the first place because I wanted to stay in contact with all my friends. I used to have Bebo before that for the same reason but got fed up of it and deleted it for a while. I use Facebook from time to time to stay in touch, make contact, post links and see events. I used it quite a lot at one point as I was keeping in touch with people but now I hardly use it, but only once in a while. I also spring clean my friends list too. I do get quite fed up of Facebook because of the people on there - particularly the hypocritical idiots who accuse others of being on fb too much and hate what they post yet they themselves constantly update their status, check in all the time and post tons of stupid pics - so I hardly use it now.
I use often Twitter and it's great for saying my opinions and rants, and good for news as well. I also like to use Tumblr and Instagram, but not often.
I am not bored of social media sites but I don't let them take over my life. People's lives seem to be about social media nowadays and that's sad.Last edited by Dee Leigh; 14-08-2012 at 23:13. -
Re: Is anybody else bored with social networking sites? What about gathering all people who dislike social networks...in a new social networking site?(Original post by Fool In The Rain)
Hello,
Over the past couple of months, I find myself being on and off going on Twitter and Tumblr. Yesterday, I thought that they were getting incredibly boring. Now, I understand if others like it, but for me, I'm not really interested in what people from my school (which I left in May) are doing and what they think, since EVERYONE has completely different interests to me. I feel that all these Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr websites are all fads, look at MySpace.
I say that I get more of a social buzz going on Tripadivisor and Zoopla than I ever do on Twitter and Tumblr. I do still like forums though
.
So, is anybody else getting bored with social networking?
What are your opinions on them?
.
