Re: primary school teacher
I know my University were only really interested in National Curriculum subjects. Having an A level in one of the key three (Maths/English/Science) is a great bonus for applications. Then think about what else could be a useful skill, e.g. music, p.e.
Hopefully these match your strengths and interests as well as of course you want to choose subjects you actually like too

Re: primary school teacher
It depends on the uni you want to go to as well, some want certain A levels and some dont. I did an advanced vocational course (i think its called) that was worth 3 A levels in health and social care, i also did a A level in sociology and then i did a business management degree and now starting my PGCE Primary this sept. But my uni didnt require certain A levels and were ok with everything i have and did. You should also do what you enjoy, i did A levels and a degree in what i would enjoy but that would also get me into an alternative career if getting into teaching would take time. So i would also consider having a back up in case teaching doesnt work out.

Re: primary school teacherbest advice is choose a broad range of A levels(Original post by cherry_heart2047)
hey can some one help me i have finished my GCSE and now choosing my A level but i'am confused about which four A level i should choose in order to become a primary school teacher so can any one please help me thanks
S
so either one of the core three (maths , english , science ).... then humanities ..and also health and social care can be good aswell..
but i would reccommend maths, english, history and either music/p.e/health and social care
just a broad range
but play to your stregnths

Re: primary school teacher
Some uni's have certain requirements and others don't. The ones with requirements like you to take a humanities subject as well as a core subject such as english language/literature, maths or a science. It's best to pick 4 that will give you different skills and are all quite broad as then you can keep your opportunities open when it comes to deciding what university you want to go to. Some also like you to have full A levels in certain subjects so if your dropping one of your 4 subjects after the first year then research which ones you need full A levels for and drop the one you don't.

Re: primary school teacherYou don't need Law to become a lawyer, in fact most unis don't really like you to have Law at A level if you want to do Law at uni. You're better off doing an essay subject like history or english lit.(Original post by cherry_heart2047)
oh thanks yeah im picking these a levels so if dont want to become a lawyer i might want to become a primary school teacher -
Re: primary school teacherInstead of going English lit would it be good if I did English language because I like it better(Original post by Shelly_x)

Re: primary school teacherYeah thats why i might do law at alevel because if I don't like it I might not do it at uni and instead of becoming a lawyer I might become a primary school teacher(Original post by pineapple86)
But it might be a good idea to do law at a level just to get a feel on the subject to make sure you want to do law if you dont do teaching.

Re: primary school teacherYeah that is true but Iam going to do law at alevel so that I get an idea of how it's like and see if i want to do law at uni(Original post by Shelly_x)
