Re: New Aber students - any questions ?They're both on Campus but campus is fairly big. I'd say about 6-7 minutes to get there and about 10 or 11 to get back as campus is very hilly. I'm going into second year btw. Anyone who wants general info like directions to places or anything about French and Film & TV please ask me(Original post by number_25)
Not sure if you'll be able to answer this, but I might aswell ask.
How far is Rosser from the CompSci building, I mean walking wise now. -
Yea I would say about 8 mins walk down from half half of campus to the bottom......I know the area quite well because I used to have lectures in the Maths building which is next door ! ......as I say fairly easy campus to navigate(Original post by number_25)

Oh well you are very posh to have a en-suite at rosser(Original post by number_25)
Thanks for the replies.
I've been given my accommodation details, an en-suite at Rosser.
Weird question, but how big is the desk given to you there?
...... Not sure think all the desks are a standard size like 5-6ft wide .....I know that rosser rooms are smaller than most to accom for the en-suite. You will love them though, a friend of mine was in rosser, great block to be in

Re: New Aber students - any questions ?From what I've heard it's sunny on open days and dreadful every other day.(Original post by Elevant)
So lets talk about weather and wildlife that wants to kill me.
According to popular belife, it rains 24/7 in the UK, how is it really in Aber?

Re: New Aber students - any questions ?Well I can tell you its 100% true that open days always have beautiful weather!!- but Aber does have its fair share of boiling hot weather !! And we also have our fair share of vile horrible weather !! Beng Welsh anyway I'm used to it by now(Original post by gridlock)

Re: New Aber students - any questions ?I have a few friends from London and they find it easiest to travel by train! It may be hard for a Londoner to believe but there is only one single train track into aber ! So you can get a train London-Birmingham and then Birmingham-Aberystwyth (every 2 hours) - driving is much more difficult but I would recommend heading straight up the spine of England getting towards Welshpool on the Welsh boarder then its a fairly straight run through the middle off Wales to Aber ! - hope this helps(Original post by bluester)
not sure if you'll be able to answer this but from the SE (london area) any recommendations of the best way (car, train etc) to get to aber? thanks!
-
Re: New Aber students - any questions ?going by car is fairly easy once you've negotiated the M25. Up the M40 around Birmingham (usually quicker to go anti-clockwise but not always) then M6 and M54 to Shrewsbury and then onto Welshpool.(Original post by bluester)

timing its probably a bit quicker than the train. takes us 1 hour to get to M40, another hour to get to Birmingham, another hour to get around Birmingham and to the end of the M54. Don't know from Welshpool down as we always head north at that point.
Train is from Euston through to Wolverhampton or Birmingham then onto the slow (very slow) but scenic line through Welshpool and Machynlleth
if you look at a map it all makes sense -
