No it's only players from the 00s. Like it says in the rules, they'll only be eligible if they played 5 years of there career in the 00s - and they'll only be judged using there performance from the 00s. I.e. If player A was the best player in the 90s, but was very poor in the 00s we'll judge them in the team using how they were in the 00s.

I'll do it right away, and I was thinking that as well. But these often shape out this way - I've seen it happen quite often.

I have a knowledge of players from like 04/50 onwards but little before that

How much impact with the formations/players have on the outcome?

So say I pick 4 of the best strikers the planet has ever seen - does it count against me that my team is so attack heavy? I presume so since people will be voting for the knockout rounds?

I guess there will be a large element of subjective voting anyway.

What about in terms of positioning? So for example C.Ronaldo has played RM, LM, ST - can you stick a player anywhere so long as its justiable?

You can only pick players who played at least 5 years in the time span (start of)2000-(end of)2009, so you can't pick all the greatest ever players, e.g. You can't pick Maradona, Pele, Zico, Puskas...

I think the OP needs to clarify how the voting will be carried out, i agree it will probably be subjective.

I think you can play him in all the positions he has. But how will we justify it? any idea?

There's plenty of players, you'll do fine!
Well that completely depends on the voters - it'll be an open poll, and they'll vote for whoever they want. It'll have a big impact on some voters, and very little on others.

And yeah I guess it will have an effect if your sacrificing a good defense for a very good attack, but that's your choice on how you want to set up. Again that'll heavily depend on what people vote for - some might think you'll outscore your opposition. But as long as you make a fairly good argument.

Yep you can stick your player any position you want - you're the manager you have complete control over your team and formation. But you might want to consider where they played at there best - because opposition managers can also post in there tactics how to nullify certain players. I.e. You play Ronaldo LW, and he hasn't got a good record there. The opposition manager can mention that, and that might swing some votes.

Can you please answer some questions from above, what type of justification do you need? Do you have an example?

Okay basically once you've picked your team, you often have a player profile for each player. Just a few words giving a brief over-view of your player and describe how you'll use them in your team.

Then a general overview of your team, how you'll set up - are you going to try and take the game by the throat and control possession to dominate. Or are you content sitting back, and wait for the counter attack. This will depend on your teams strengths - mention them here. Also try and mention how you'll try to deal with certain players you feel are threatening - I.e. Zidane will be a threat, but I'll have so-and-so on his trail through the game limiting his impact etc.

Players will obviously have spent at least 5 years - some longer. How do we determine what period? So for example someone like Gerrard who came onto the scene in 2000ish, was decent, was great in say 2005-2007 and then tailed off with injuries - how is that player determined in terms of how good he is/was?

They will be judged on there best during the 00s. You can mention a period of time where you thought the player was at his best if you want. It won't really matter for Gerrard because the majority of his career was in the 00s, but say for someone like Romario who's also eligible it's obvious that he was a shadow of the player he was in the 90s.

Okay so (for the sake of being pedantic ) if a player qualifies as he played until 2005 but had a world class season in 2000/2001 but then tailed off for the remainder - he'd be seen at his best in 2000? Or I guess there is still a subjective element from how players view them..

As you can tell, I overthink things
