Guys - Are you intimidated by funny women?
I think guys value a lot of their manlyness on 'banter', I know some girls who are hilarious, a lot more funny than these guys with so much banter yet to me it seems a guy has no interest in a woman that can out funny him. To me a man just wants a woman who can appreciate and laugh at his jokes yet he has no concern about whether its the other way round. Not in all cases obviously, but a lot of the time.
Would you say this is true? -
Re: Guys - Are you intimidated by funny women?I dont really know any funny women so cant answer that, but no I wouldnt be intimidated but men are generally funner than women so we would be taken aback(Original post by Anonymous)

Re: Guys - Are you intimidated by funny women? Not at all, I prefer girls who are funny. Nothing worse than a girl who takes everything seriously.(Original post by Anonymous)

Your friend sounds quite similar to me. I tone my humour down in front of males because it can be incredibly inappropriate and I don't want to come across as crude or have them get the wrong idea.(Original post by Anonymous)
I think a lot of girls arent confident enough to be funny infront of guys. I have a friend with the most vulgar and innapropriate sense of humour ever, yet she seems to tone it down so much when she is with her boyfriend. I have never understood why.

Re: Guys - Are you intimidated by funny women?why dont you try it, men are funnier cos they apparently are more 'risque', read it in an article so chances are they would find it funny and like you more, I know I would(Original post by Colour Me Pretty)

Re: Guys - Are you intimidated by funny women?
I like to think I'm a funny guy. Not to the extent that i'm big-headed or overly confident, just quietly! I think humour is massively attractive, I would take a less better looking woman over a pin-up if she had a gsoh any day. What is life without a laugh?

Re: Guys - Are you intimidated by funny women?I'm not even trying to be sexist or misogynist here but I genuinely have never met a funny woman. Even female comedians are terrible, even bloggers. Who actually finds Jenna Marbles funny?(Original post by BabyfacedDom)
Women aren't funny - void question.
I guess it's not a feminine trait though, women always say they want a man who can make them laugh it's never the other way round, I wouldn't care if a girl was funny but it's not something I'd look for or want that much. Comedy is a man's game.
There are times when women have made me laugh though but it's never down to wit, usually cheek and/or timing. -
Re: Guys - Are you intimidated by funny women?I agree to some extent. I find some of my female friends really funny but they would never act the same way or tell the same jokes in front of guys. I think that in general guys tend to be more confident with their humour whereas girls don't see being funny as a way to impress a guy and so will tone it down.(Original post by Wilfred Little)

I usually don't like female comedians because I think the only jokes they tell are about being a woman rather than about other topics. However, I also find this with a lot of other minorities in comedy. Sarah Millican and Katherine Ryan are exceptions. -
Re: Guys - Are you intimidated by funny women? You've pretty much hit the nail on the head there regarding female comedians, they tend to play the gender card too much. Also add Gina Yashere (tells too many jokes in African accents) and Jo Brand (mentions her weight too much).(Original post by Pixxy_)

What kind of things do your friends joke about and what would you say is different when they are around men? -
Re: Guys - Are you intimidated by funny women?Well that's the thing, I don't know whether being ''risque'' is a good thing(Original post by hiding12)

My sense of humour can be outrageous and I always imagine it to be a huge turn off so I tone it down.
If you look at my blog and posts such as the ''sex facts'' or the ''How to pull on a night out'' posts, they are what my usual sense of humour is like, but even then I toned it down a bit.Last edited by Colour Me Pretty; 23-07-2012 at 17:13. -
