Best zombie film you've seen?

Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

Older resident evil films were amazing.

28 days later is also extremely epic.

Don't like the shuffling zombie films, just find it too much of an ask to believe they could over-run civilisation.

Yep, I checked it on youtube as well actually. Fantastic death scene; very gory, but rather amusing and, I think, fitting.

*didn't realise there was a 'good' where zombie flicks are concerned, never mind a best one!*

Do quite like Land of the Dead, although it may just be due to Simon Baker's presence.

Diary of the Dead is good for a laugh too.

    Dawn of the Dead remake
Heretic! The original is soooo much better. For the best, it's difficult to chose between the original Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead.

I also have a soft spot for the Italian rip offs from the 1980s.

    The Crazies
I'm not entirely sure I'd call either the original or the - not bad - remake a zombie film. Given that the protagonists are killed early on in the series, the later Halloween (Michael very clearly dead in HII) and Friday the 13th (Jason officially dead in IV, or was it V?) films are zombie films...

You just need enough of them, and the number grows and grows = of course they would.

Especially somewhere like the UK, where there isn't the gun ownership that there is in many other countries.

I'd say braindead, one of Peter Jackson's first films. Absolutely hilarious.

Also the original dawn of the dead, remember seeing it when I was a kid and think it was the first zombie film I ever watched, so that film spawned my love of zombies!

    Controversial but Dead Set.
wasn't that a tv mini series ? about a zombie apocalypse happening and the main caracters were to do with big brother? if so that was awesome ... but not a movie

I've seen the original George A Romero films as well, they are good, classics, but the god awful facepaint ruins it for me. And come on dawn of the dead remake has a zombie baby!!!

I see what you mean about the Crazies, but would other genre would it fit under? They are infected people who want to kill everyone.

Lol I found Land of the dead so cheesy and over the top at times, I kinda preferred Diary, as cheesy as that was as well, I would've liked a sequel to it.

It's not at all about zombies...

Zombieland's my favourite zombie film, provides so much laughter imo.

Cheesy + over the top = good time

Has anyone seen the Return of the Living Dead films? Now they're cheesy. Probably the worst zombie-apocalypse situation as well, since cutting off/destroying the head doesn't (re)kill.
