    The Orphanage, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Alien, Blade Runner, The Dark Knight - not sure if this one exactly fits, though.

    The Matrix, Inception, Blade Runner, AI and The Omen (original version) are some of my favourites

    only really know of Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 etc which is both horror and space

    Thinking of ones that haven't already been mentioned, try,

    The Tunnel (Horror)
    Stake Land (Post-apocalyptic Vampire Movie)
    Zombieland (not technically Horror)
    Children of Men (I don't think it was that memorable but it seems to have a 8.0 rating on IMDB)
    The Thing (Horror)

    Starship Troopers is a really entertaining sci-fi movie. Stay away from the sequels though.

    Yo, try out Pan's Labyrinth - one of the best fantasy/horror films I've seen in a while. Also The Woman in Black was pretty scary surprisingly.

    No scifi fest can be so-called if it does not include Aliens. The Thing(1982) is ok, too.
