Looking for 5 sci-fi/horror/fantasy films to watch :D
Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

Thinking of ones that haven't already been mentioned, try,
The Tunnel (Horror)
Stake Land (Post-apocalyptic Vampire Movie)
Zombieland (not technically Horror)
Children of Men (I don't think it was that memorable but it seems to have a 8.0 rating on IMDB)
The Thing (Horror)Awesome. Thanks for the links and descriptions. Both of you are(Original post by ashtoreth)

Aw, mate; sorry. I'll let you know whether I like it or not ye? : ) -
Re: Looking for 5 sci-fi/horror/fantasy films to watch :DOh yeah, I know, it was the fact you called it the weirdest ever I found a bit odd. Humanity creates a spaceship capable of folding spacetime, goes missing. It comes back, bunch of people go to find out what happened. Turns out that the ship went to hell, literally, and Sam Neill pokes his eyes out. Not that weird, man(Original post by lyrical_lie)
Didn't say it was the worst, simply the weirdest. I didn't really get it and I'm a huge horror movie geek

Re: Looking for 5 sci-fi/horror/fantasy films to watch :D
If you liked Avatar then i definitely recommend that you watch:
Princess Mononoke (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119698/)
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087544/)
they're both animes but it does not detract from the experience. If you find those to your liking, i suggest you try some other studio ghibli films.
Oh and maybe Dances with Wolves, don't really know if it belongs in the adventure genre though

Re: Looking for 5 sci-fi/horror/fantasy films to watch :D
Just watched War of the Worlds. I didn't get the ending until I read this comment:
*SPOILER!! Whoever hasn't watched it, please stop until here.
lol.Nature killed them...all the plants and natural life, they couldn't handle it.
Serves them bludy right aswell!
Then I would agree with this commenter:
orThe ending of the film was really lame...not enough was explained!
Terrible ending – a much better alternative would have been to get Tom Cruise stomped to death by a giant metal alien foot. In slow motion. For two hours. In real life.
It has its good moments but the way the alien died is just a bit odd for me lol.
off to the next one

District 9
The ending, to me, has a mixture of happy and at the same time, sad one.
Hope the alien comes back!
Off to the next one! : D -

I realise this is your thread, but do you have any suggestions for movies? I'm always looking for new movies.
