Any gardeners? - growing peppers

    You need to speak to a Bio/ Botoany student or similar. Growing peppers on windowsills at this time of year, they will probably not produce fruit. Day length is not long enough for the plant, that will be confused. you can buy "daylight" wavelength bulbs and strip lights, but they are expensive. You would need to leave on the lights for at least a 12 hour day.
    Better to read the packet and sow the seeds march/april/may for a summer harvest, but you will probably have already quit the room you are in before the harvest. I harvest windowsill peppers in August. But I am no longer a student.

    I'm not growing them this time of year. I started this thread last July. They turned out ok in the end, but the plants we gave to my boyfriends mum and dad did better as they have a conservatory which stays warmer for longer with more sunlight.
