    Depends on your figure.
Do you have a waist? If so wear a dress that has a belt, darker colours make you look slimmer.
As you don't like your thighs make sure the dress covers them.
Heels always make your legs look slimmer as well.

Wear knee length - the illusion will be that your legs are slim all the way up.
Try wearing a dress where the skirt part is like a pencil skirt - pencil skirts pretty much flatter anyone.
Wear black or another kind of block colour.

    What's your body type?

Try Jaeger, LK Bennett, H&M (some styles)

    Avoid Topshop, Karen Millen

Would suggest something that draws attention to the bust (slight v neck), conceals the stomach (e.g. folded details) and emphasizes the hips/buttocks.

Just above the knee or knee length is good

Stay away from lycra fabrics or even light jerseys. wear clothes with heavier fabrics and when in doubt, get a pretty black dress and a contrast blazer...

You could try skater dress style, a dress where the skirt part goes out from you're waist so it highlights you're chest/waist but hides stomach/thighs

This (or similar black skater dress) with some kind of waist belt to brighten it up, and a contrast blazer & heels?

Something similar in berry, but textured so doesn't look so clingy on the tighter bits:

I'd go for black heels, & a black skinny belt personally.

I think this style looks better on bigger girls than slimmer girls personally:

Again I'd probably go for something to make it pop & make it less 'office', like some bright shoes & things.

This one's good, knee length so gives the illusion of slimmer legs, wraparound so draws attention to cleavage & pretty nipped in waist. Could use a waist belt.

Just a few ideas I chose DP because I think they have a really good variety of dresses atm, I'm not just like... Advertising

agree with most of that except the pencil skirts bit.

I really really cant pull off a pencil skirt- im a size 12, thin legs, but bigger belly/breasts and pencil skirts do not look good on me

is there a secret because i love them!

and it wasnt me that negged you in case you think i did lol

    why not buy a good body shaper. they really help. And as for dress style for chubby girls;

    1. skin fitting jeans
    2. v-necklines
    3. jackets covering half the butt
    4. accessories
    5. good make-up
    6. most important..good bra

BS! Find an empire line that sits 2 inches above your belly button. On 99.99999999% of women this is their narrowest point. You want to emphasise your narrowest point, ALWAYS.

Avoid anything shapeless, drop waisted, baggy, over-sequined or in thin jersey-esque fabric (unless you're wearing the PERFECT fitting underwear so it is invisible under clothing)

a good fitting pair of straight leg jeans (not drainpipe and definitely not bootcut) are a wardrobe essential - river island and oasis are a good call.

Wear tights, and absolutely milk the trend for opaque black tights (we're talking 100+ denier) for all its worth, then team with killer black heels.

long maxi dresses. They are long and so will cover your thighs ..and they do not tightly stick to your skin (so they would cover your belly). It really depends where you're going though ..becasue I don't know if you could go clubbing in a maxi dress Maybe just shop where you continue to shop but look for dress which cover the areas you feel uncomfortable with. Alternatively just go for a size up e.g. you maybe a size 14 ..so then go for a 16 ..that's what I used to do when I was fat and I really managed to conceal it ..like I would tell people my thigs were huge and they would be like 'err no they're NOT!'

Wallis, Next, M and S (but some of their clothes are for older women ), Tkmax, New Look...you should find good stuff there!

you know, on paper this sounds right. on paper empire sounds like a lovely idea for larger girls.

in reality, the honest truth is that it makes everyone look pregnant. tight under the bust and 'skimming' over the tummy just doesn't seem to work, ever.

Tbh I find this with empire line on me & I'm a size six from the waist down (damn boobs). Maybe it's more about body shape than size but I know I can't pull them off.

If you are saying you are chubby, then you are fat so it should come as no surprise that you "look... fat".

Get a size 10 dress and work towards it.

I think that's a seriously rude way to tell someone to lose weight. Ever considered maybe the OP IS trying to lose weight but for some reason can't? Or that maybe they're happy with their weight but would like clothing that's more flattering for their body shape?

They didn't ask rude people to come in here and call them fat and to go diet.

Chubby basically means fat, doesn't it? Or have I got it wrong?

I'm a girl myself. The best way to look better is to lose weight.
