    Oily skin vs Dry skin
Obviously, having neither oily or dry skin would be perfect, but let's face it... very few teens/young adults achieve it!
So, I'm wondering, is it better for your skin to be dry, or oily?

I don't think its true that very few young people have skin that is neither oily or dry

Neither is 'better' really - both have their pros and cons.

Dry skin is generally less prone to spots and acne, but can be flaky and tight which as well as being uncomfortable can make finding makeup that sits nicely on the skin difficult.

Oily skin tends to age better, but can be more blemish-prone. Keeping oil and shine at bay can be tricky!

    Dry, definitely.
Chances are you won't be acne prone and would have no/less spots than someone with oily skin. Not to mention, INVISIBLE PORES.
And all you have to do to combat dry-ness is to moisturise and moisturie well. And there are so many natural humectants out there too

If you have truely oily skin, there's not much you CAN do short of killing your oil glands.. but at least you look younger for a little longer!

Oily, definitely! I have a very, very dry skin and no matter how much I moisturise it (even with Sudocrem, Vaseline, moisturisers that are supposedly made for very dry skin or creams from my dermatologist), it stays flaky, red and itchy. On a bad day I only need to smile or do something with my face and it just tears. Very painful and not a pretty sight.

I have had oily skin when I was younger complete with the spots and it's so much easier to take care of that. The only downside is being shiny throughout the day and having the occasional spots, but that's much easier to cover up than a flaky skin that itches and becomes irritated as soon as you try to make it look better.

Oily skin is better in the long run because the oil is a natural moisturiser and oily skin doesn't age as much.

Oily, it ages you really well, and depending in your skin colour, spots may not look that bad. For people with darker skin, spots tend to not show up that badly

I have oily skin - while I appreciate and am thankful I will age better I do still sometimes wish I had dry skin. I'd much rather have to exfoliate/moisturise really well than deal with large, open looking pores and the ridiculous amount of shine that I get.

Those with dry skin - I've heard Embroylisse (sp?) is an amazing moisturiser.
