    Self portrait advice please
    Hello

I've enrolled onto an art and design course startin in September and we've being given a small project to carry out for the first day. "self-portrait" there's no real direction with the project just for it to be my interpretation of a self portrait. I'm quiet new to art and needless to say I'm struggling abit I've had various thoughts and ideas from artist research and I'd really like to incoperate a giraffe into my final outcome but not to sure how.

I'd be really gratefull for any advice or tips anyone could give me

    Thankyou. X

How 'new' are you? It would help me to help you if I knew how much experience you've got and roughly what your ability is.

Regarding the giraffe thing, don't put in a certain thing just because you think it's cool because it might not work with the rest of the drawing. Trust me, I've always wanted to put in random things just because I like drawing them/ they look cool, but it almost never works out.
UNLESS you make a few plans or rough designs (can even be stick figures) just to get the basic composition down, in which case you can think about including the giraffe.
Why do you want the giraffe in there anyway?

New in the terms of the last year. The giraffe is just another idea not one that I'm really thinking about because I don't want it to be "just random" but looking at myself from a different perspective head in the clouds, Long-reaching looks to the future and sort of an animal totem bonus being its just one of them animals I'm fascinated by
