Do you class Die Hard as a 'Christmas film'?

Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

I don't think that's a suitable DESCRIPTION given it's pure action with no seasonal theme plus it was actually released in the summer in US.

Only when I want to sound cool when people ask what the best Christmas film is...like right now!

Besides Die Hard 2 is a better choice for a seasonal film imo...

Yeah the sequel is a bit more Christmas-y.

It's not a good description, but yeah pretty much what ManBeast said. It's a Christmas film when we want it to be

When people ask me my favourite xmas movie I say Die Hard ok this normally takes place when xmas movies are on.

It's not really though, it's just a action movie that takes place during xmas.

Lethal Weapon is great too, bad santa and die hard 2

Absolutely, it's mandatory viewing for me every Christmas. Die Hard, Home Alone and Christmas Vacation are the "big three" when it comes to Xmas movie viewing for me.

Batman Returns is another one that I consider a Christmas movie, just because it happens to be set around then.

I'd class it as an alternative Christmas film - set on Christmas Eve but not necessarily something to be watched only at Christmas.

I would since I always watch it at Christmas and it's just a good excuse to watch it because it's one of my favourites.

Well it's better than bloody Elf.... :puke:

I class it as a christmas film, because it has snow, guns, and bruce willis. I love those things, and I love christmas, so they must be related.

The reason some people view it as a Christmas film is because it's played on TV every Christmas. Others would disagree it's a Christmas film because it's not Christmassy. Hardly rocket science!

Yes it's also what I say when asked my favourite Christmas movie (along with Love, Actually) but it's also one of my fav films in general.
