I can still understand those who take that viewpoint though.
    Aye, as can I.

But as I say, if we all took that view debate would grind to halt.

Not really. Most bills put forward are in what people generally see as the remit of government.

Then a lot of people here evidently underestimate the power of bureaucrats in the real world.

I respect this opinion, but I thought "I want to put forward an opinion on this, and seeing as that's what this site is for (and there's not a model BOA, not that I'd be interested in joining one) so I'll let it go".
Thank you, and I understand and respect your opinion too.

That's the way I also see it.

I would have thought that most of what we actually discuss in the MHoC isn't directly up the Government anyway. It would destroy most of the debate we have if we always take that attitude. Where's the harm in discussing it? Why vote no regardless of what your opinion on the matter is?
OK, that's fine - I understand and respect your opinions on this and that you see this as the only way, in the MHoC at least, to get the change through. However, when something such as this which is so clearly not the responsibility of the MHoC appears then I don't feel that I can support it for exactly that reason. Had this been a motion which called upon the BOA to change the name in light of what you've said then I would have supported it however.
