When Insert_Username's comment was written the Reverend Ian Paisley sat bolt upright with all the hairs on his arms standing up. Trues story.
Luckily Martin McGuinness was on hand with a warm towel and soothing massage to calm his nerves.

In terms of pure achievement, I think there is a fair argument to be made that Phil Taylor should be at or near the top of the list.

Tough call between the two. Higgins was the more exiting to watch i think but ronnie's style is exiting to watch and the best at the sport. I'd have to say ronnie is the greater because he brought an exiting style of play that trounced to dull robot style that got the better of higgins. He goes alongside the likes of bolt and ali. People who have a large gap between their abilities and everyone elses and who dont apologise for it regardless of how it makes everyone have a go at every opportunity.

Henry Cooper Boxer who won the British and European heavyweight titles several times throughout his career, and who once defeated Muhammad Ali.
    No he didn't.

He knocked Ali down but then proceeded to get beaten to a pulp. And he's nowhere near the greatest British boxer ever.

I've got to be biased and say Jonny Wilkinson. That drop goal has been immortalised, they even showed it during the Opening Ceremony.

Jim Clarke and Colin Chapman are more famous/talented then Stirrling Moss.

That list just looks disappointing. We've got some of the greatest sportspeople in the most lacklustre of disciplines. We're good at music though, can't have it all i guess.

David Beckham and Jonny Wilkinson should be on that list.

I think Jim Clark and James Hunt deserve a mention too.

If anyone voting has seen all these athletes in action I'd be surprised.

    Ryan Giggs?
Yes, as well as Ronnie O'Sullivan and the plethora of F1 drivers that have been mentioned in this thread.
