Re: Anyone else hate Hollister?i think they have lowlighting and loud music to distract you from the poor quality of clothing lol(Original post by honeyandlemon)
I think Hollister is a complete joke and their "only good looking workers" policy is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of in my life. Nearly all of the people I know who work there are completely shallow and totally vapid. I find the clothes in the shop nothing special and the loud music and lighting unbearable. I don't know anyone vaguely interesting who would ever consider working there. And no, I'm not really fat and unattractive. I just don't find people who want to walk around a shop posing all day appealing.
It's always complete cringe to go on someone's facebook and see them listed as a "floor model" at Hollister.
What does everyone else think? -
Re: Anyone else hate Hollister?
I don't hate it. I wouldn't buy from there but I see no reason to hate the brand. I don't have a local one but did go inside one with a friend when I visited her at uni as her uni city has one. It was a bit weird with it looking so different on the outside, the dark and the smell but I wouldn't say it's particularly bad. I managed to see everything ok.

Re: Anyone else hate Hollister?
I agree how the clothes aren't anything special and i really hate the craze for it. When westfield in stratford city opened up i remember a massive queue for hollister. I always see people in my school with hollister bags and they just love to be seen shopping in hollister. But i really don't get why! And the good looking workers policy is probably the worst of all. Imagine, someone wants to work is hollister but the employers tell them "Oh sorry, you're not good looking enough." That's just ridiculous.

Re: Anyone else hate Hollister?Picking up on this point. I have a friend of a friend who was hired by Hollister. Apparently he's "too ugly" for shop floor (and they outright told him that) so he works night shifts. He's also not allowed any staff discount on the clothes whereas the shop floor workers are.(Original post by MrPhats)

Re: Anyone else hate Hollister?
The only thing that annoys me about Hollister is, like has been said, I'd only really choose ost of their clothes for lounging around at home in, and for that price I would rather avoid them!
The only attractive workers thing is ridiculously shallow. My friend's roommate walked in with her boyfriend once (both very blonde and physically fit) and were offered jobs on the spot, even when they didn't ask about them. Bit unfair on less attractive people actively trying to find work, but I guess that's how the way the world works whether we like it or not :/ -

Re: Anyone else hate Hollister? From what I gather he's only there for the money. I think he's on £8/9 an hour.(Original post by honeyandlemon)

Re: Anyone else hate Hollister?
I hate Hollister with a passion. I think this whole 'designer label' thing is overrated...why is it seen that the brand of clothes you wear determine who you are as a person? I'm much happier wearing my comfy Primark jeans than trying to squeeze myself into the tight fitting, overpriced ones at Hollister. I've been into a Hollister shop before because my sister has started high school and as usual, it's all about brands and popularity. So anyway, I was walking around and saw a member of staff spraying perfume on all the clothes? I think I'll need a gas mask if I ever have to be forced to go in there again... And what's with the shop in the dark thing? Half the time you can't even tell what colour the clothes are....
I also don't like the idea of hiring people based on how attractive and tanned you are...it seems very shallow to me.
So, that was my little-ish rant on Hollister.

Re: Anyone else hate Hollister?
I don't buy into it but to be fair I don't see why they should be forced to hire people they don't want.
They want people to buy into that feeling that they subconsciously feel like they can look like the people that work there by buying their clothes. It's their business.
It's no different from wanting to hire people that dress a bit quirky in topman or smart suited people in next.
