Getting ready for starting in September!
So... there's a few of us on here who are starting a course this September, so I was wondering what people have been doing / will do to prepare themselves?

I'm starting GEM at Newcastle, so am expecting the next year to be hectic. Very hectic (!!). So I'm trying to relax as much as possible by leaving work 2 weeks before the course starts so I can indulge in spending time with friends and family. They're going to be seriously neglected in the near future! I've also sourced a few second hand books (most of them free) from past med students I know.

What are your plans for the nest 2 months before you start?

I also purchased some 2nd hand medical books so i hope i can look thro those b4 i start to refresh my AS/A2 knowledge as most topics overlap but of course taken to a greater level. I have got biochemistry(2), Physiology(2) and anatomy(2). There were really cheap i cudn't help it and they were on the reading list for my uni. I will not however read thro all of them but just look thro a few chapters. Some books are no good now but will be soon and i know i will be too busy to buy the books i need in sept. I am hoping to use lib books anyway. I am reading a few medical books not the serious kind, relaxing, watching scrubs, doctor who, harry potter etc and i plan to start a study in august in a lab with a gynaecologist no point being bored. I start in oct so i hope to spend all of sept buying things i need, chilling and having fun.

I am planning to go on holiday before the course starts and just doing the same as you really- relaxing as much as i can because i know it won't be long until I won't get the chance to do such things! Can't believe how quick September is coming around though!
What date do you start OP?

    I'm starting 3rd September

Moving up to Newcastle on 24th August and my parents are coming up to meet me on the 25th to make a weekend of it - they've never been to Newcastle before.

    I'm not doing...anything.

I know my mind will be pretty occupied for the next 5 years, so I reckon I'll just relax before that happens! aha

The most important pre-uni preparation is making sure your liver is ready to take a pounding in freshers week =)
