Thanks for the answer. I'm sorry I've asked so many of you!(Original post by toronto353)
Tricky one - rules are rules as we've seen in this election. I think that all parties have the same amount of time to prepare a manifesto and so it wouldn't be fair to give some an extension and not others (the parties that have submitted manifestos could use that time to improve their manifesto and they stuck to the rules) so as much as it would pain me, I wouldn't let them stand because others stuck to the rules so why can't that party?
I've got another, though this doesn't really relate to the speakership so you don't have to answer it. It's just struck me that I barely know anything about you! If you've mentioned this before and I've forgotten I do apologise! I presume you're at Uni as you're a PS helper. What do you study and where?
This was posted from The Student Room's iPhone/iPad App -
Re: Speaker Election: ManifestosI assume that my pun has gone unnoticed. I'm fine with receiving any 'gifts', but they won't help you get anywhere in the MHoC so it's not worth bothering.(Original post by tehFrance)
And I responded saying I cannot... if you want to be Speaker, the least you should be able to do is read and comprehend posts
No.
Thanks paddy - you're so thoughtful(Original post by paddy__power)
If I end up having to have you sorted I will hang you with one as a mark of respect.

Parties have in the past been warned to up activity - TSR UKIP was in 2009 I believe. I would contact the leader advising them to up activity if there wasn't any within a month (as outlined in section 5.3 of the Constitution). If there was still no activity after that, then I would recommend that they would be shut down, but I would certainly give them a chance first. I would hope that it would never come to that though.(Original post by JPKC)
Under what circumstances would you delete a party? (AKA 'party poop'.)
(Original post by 5. Parties)
5.3.will be shut down if either:
5.3.1.there is no activity in their sub-forum for a period of 1 month
5.3.2.none of their MPs vote for a period of 1 month
5.3.3.the party leader steps down and no-one replaces them
5.3.4.the Speaker deems them to be inactive
That's ok. It's rather fun.(Original post by Metrobeans)

With regards to your second question, I always followed this slightly amended saying:
Always leave them wanting [to know] more
However, I shall say that I currently study Classics. Though I'll not say where so that I can leave you wanting to know more.
It's a worthwhile subject and definitely worth studying if you ever have the time.
Ooh so close.(Original post by paddy__power)

Re: Speaker Election: ManifestosLove it. Hamish it is.(Original post by JPKC)
Okay, Hamish, I guess we'll just have to guess. Would you only ever come to a HoC meet in a burqa?
That's assuming that I would come to an HoC meet.

Re: Speaker Election: Manifestos
Out of interest, I was looking around the older part of the forum and I came across this.
Now, if there was a situation where actual MHoC protocols and behaviours were broken, completely independent of whether or not the actual forum rules were broken would you take action, for instance 'name an MP'

Re: Speaker Election: ManifestosIn that case, it would be up to the leader to decide on what action to take. Once the Speaker starts naming MPs, then they can get accused on being partisan. I would therefore leave it up to the leader to take action and I would not start naming MPs. I also doubt that any of the mods of this section would do such a thing as happened in that post as well.(Original post by Matthew_Lowson)
