Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sAah cheers, I just hope I don't get outclassed by others but I'm sure I can pull off a few A*'s, maybe.(Original post by Funky_Climber)
Just make sure you get at least B's in Science, Maths and English. My C in English caused the problems for applying but Birmingham didn't care

Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sIt depends on factors like where you have applied and which subjects the low grades are in.(Original post by dinrah04)
Does anyone know if the Uni's will mind a few low passes (C or lower?) -
Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sI can safely say that subject isn't exactly relevant to Medicine. So as long as I have enough positive achievements, I can outweigh the not so good ones? (within reason of course)(Original post by myyrh)

Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sYes. I had a C in french and it didn't matter so as long as it's not a core subject and you pick the right schools you should be fine.(Original post by dinrah04)

Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sAre you on MAP by any chance?(Original post by Normandy114)
I got an offer with 1A*, 5As, 4Bs and 1C, so it's definitely possible depending on what you got. -
Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sNope, wish I was, would make this results day wait so much more bearable. I was just about eligible for a couple of access courses but didn't apply to them in the end. You need to live in Manchester for the MAP so that ruled me out.(Original post by Macromolecular)
Are you on MAP by any chance? -
Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sCongratulations on the offer and good luck for results day!(Original post by Normandy114)

Yeah you have to live within the Greater Manchester area, friend has a offer with only ABB, everyone is certain that she will get in. -
Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A's
i got 3A*s 6As 2Bs (terrible).
got predicted 44/45 in IB...
careers dpt didn't let me apply for UK med (they say no B's allowed).
applied for med skls in HK (CUHK and HKU)...
no reply from CUHK and rejected from HKU.
got 43/45 for final IB exams...
reapplied to CUHK and HKU and accepted into CUHK.
conclusion:
don't give up, but also be realistic. Just like the type of predictions my school teachers make: optimistic realism. -
Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sWhat's CUHK? And a no B policy sure is harsh(Original post by georgekwok)

Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sChinese University of Hong Kong.(Original post by dinrah04)
What's CUHK? And a no B policy sure is harsh -
Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sAah nice, I've not really considered international unis, would one have to know the language?(Original post by georgekwok)
Chinese University of Hong Kong. -
Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sIf you want to apply for medicine, yes. Cantonese is required (compulsory). For the HKU med interview, they would suddenly change from English to Cantonese and it's quite unnerving. For CUHK, not sure. This year they didn't talk in Cantonese.(Original post by dinrah04)

Other than med/dentistry/nursing/pharmacy/chinese studies, I don't think Chinese is a requirement.
But CUHK med also has a minimum requirement of 43/45 for IB... xDLast edited by georgekwok; 03-08-2012 at 18:23. -

Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sIt is. But 1) TSR attracts the more academic people and 2) it's incredibly easy to lie about your grades online.(Original post by dinrah04)
I was under the impression I was quite the academic until I came here, I honestly thought the whole straight A's/A* thing was incredibly rare.
I went to the best high school in my town. Nobody got sstraight A*s, but two people did get a mix of As and A*s. The twin sister of one of those got a couple of Bs

Re: How many of you applicants/medics don't have all A'sLike in my whole town, the best school for 5A*-C (inc. Maths and English) the best is 91%(the only one over 90%), mine is like 42%.(Original post by Clare~Bear)
