I'm not really sure about AS (not even finished my GCSEs) but I'm pretty sure straight A*s aren't necessary.

I think most applicants would have at least AAA at AS, mainly because it's kind of an indicator of how well you'll do at A Level. At my college, if you didn't get AAA at AS you were discouraged from applying for medicine (and even if you did you still were... but that's another story :P) But anyway, I'd say that not having at least AAA at AS is a disadvantage. hth

Depends on your subjects really, provided the Bs weren't in biology or chemistry. Honestly, as long as you can plausibly achieve and get predicted AAA at A Level you should be fine. Unless you're thinking of applying to Cambridge, who look at your UMS score.

2A*, 2A, 3B.2C!. Gcses done a while ago. I recently went back to college. Got A*AA in bio chem physics. I have an offer from a med school. Just goes to show most unis appreciate gcses to a certain extent, but if you dont have super gcses and have excellent a level grades, that more than makes up for it. Plus interviews play a big part. Despite contrary belief med schools like humans who sre well rounded and not 10A* wizz kids who cant string a sentence together
