    North Korea at the Olympics
How does that work? Do they allow the people out of the country for a few days and keep them locked in their rooms whenever they aren't competing?

Surely the North Korean athletes would see the world in which they are being held back from and not want to go back to that ****hole, or are they literally dragged onto the planes back?

OR, is it all just North Korean propaganda? Seriously, no one is falling for it. I'm not sure they ever did.

Or the athletes are proud to represent their country?
Already we have seen the Brit Olympic people trying to offend the DPRK team!

Pretty sure it was accidental, stop being so melodramatic. With you, everything is pretty much about "offending" someone, stop going on already -.- also, no doubt you're so "this was Britain trying to offend them because you hate the Brits because you don't have a United Ireland... sigh

They played at the SA world cup if you remember - the point of these competitions is to bring the world together rather than sustain political barriers, not just sport for the sake of sport!
I don't know how the arrangement works for the athletes though. I would imagine that during and after the olympics they will be isolated, but I could be wrong. They may all belong to some middle class who are aware of the outside world but don't resist the regime because it would ruin their lives

Id accept it was accidental if they mixed up a Italian and Irish flag or something but this was not accidental. Someone did this on purpose to make a point and they succeed in insulting the N Koreans.
I don't hate the Brits I hate the Imperialist British establishment.

Surely when searching for the flags, both would come up beside each other due to "Korea". I also doubt they'd want to annoy the N Korean's, especially as they could blow us out of the water... literally
And I'm sure the Queen's a lovely woman, no need to hate

People's Democratic Republic of Korea vs Republic of Korea.
One saving grace, was that it was a picture of a flag on a electronic scoreboard, therefore it was not a gamesmaker who made the mistake. A team of gamesmakers who work for the 'Flag Protocol Team " are responsible to seeing the right flag is flown, in the right manner

I've read this news in BBC and I believe it was just an honest mistake. Probably, an operator's thing or electronic thing. However, if this is only a propaganda then they get the attention and the tension. I hope they'll be in peace soon.

Although it is a really dumb mistake to make (even a 5 year old could google and get the right flag), mistakes like this make me think that incompetence isn't rare.

Yeah to be honest, just like Nazi Germany shouldn't have been allowed to host the 1936 Olympic Games (or even compete), evil warmongering dictatorships today like North Korea and Iran should be banned from competing in any Olympics.

I love the fact she stood there and didn't cause a fuss, even though she clearly recognised what song was playing. She smiled politely afterwards and happily took her photocall. Admirable.

The thing that made this gaffe so embarrassing was that it was the flag of a country that North Korea had been at war with for decades. It's still an honest mistake, though. There's so much to co-ordinate and put into place, I'd expect something like this to happen at least a few times in an event on this scale. It's just unlucky that it happened with Korea of all places.

At least the mistake was pre-Olympics. Hopefully it will mean that there will be a lot more awareness now and will ensure there isn't a similar mistake in any other events which may be more important!

I agree that the Kazakhstan athlete remained dignified despite the cock-up, which gives a much better impression of the country than getting angry about it. That's being a good guest!

Their women's football team are banned from the next World Cup but only because a few of the players failed drugs tests.
