Its pretty demoralising
Hello,
So today I had my driving test, which I failed
and it was a very bad fail. 3 serious and 14 minors! The serious were for the following:
- Stalled 4 times (Nerves played a massive part my foot was actually shaking)
- Not fast enough on a dual carriageway
- Steering (He said it was too wide)
The minors were for silly things, i got three for moving off which was me stalling, and three for hesitation at like junctions and roundabouts.
When I look at how I failed, its stuff that when Im with my instructor I do fine, as soon as its test conditions I screw it up, then again he said my three point turn was good, I should just work on normal driving.
Overall Im devastated that I failed, its knocked me a bit but Ill have to soldier on!
What will be the best way to go? More lessons or just having the same amount and try a be a bit better next time? Also does the nerves calm more after so many tests?

This stuff happens. It feels really, really **** at the time, but you'll pass soon enough and forget all about it. It feels like some sort of weird 'shame' when you're in the thick of it though. I passed on my third test, after having made rather embarrassingly simple mistakes in my first two tests (I still feel they were being rather strict but whatever). Just take a lesson or two and then go for for a practice test with your driving instructor to see if you're ready to take another one. There's no reason to delay it if you feel like you're genuinely ready for it and will pass.

If you know within your self you can drive book another test and work toward it!i passed my 3rd attempt yesterday! After learning for about 2 years 7 different instructor lol! And guess what I ended up doing it in my own car with a friend of mine lol nerves will play with u especially if u have a horrible examiner! The one I had was amazing yesterday absolute legend! But just take a few more lessons work on your failures and go for it again! If I can do it anyone can trust me I thought id never get there!but never GIve up nomatter how deflated you feel I know the feeling! Good luck(Original post by ORuss17)

Are you able to do practice with a parent. I had lots of problems with nerves when I first learned to drive and accentually gave up after failing twice and not even turning up to the 3rd test. At this point I'd only had lessons with an instructor.
When I had my next go at learning I had a few lessons to get back up to standard, but I also spent a couple of months being my mum's chauffeur. It really helped me become at ease with driving.
