    PES 2013 - First demo
    Anyone played it?

I've played around 10 matches and i think it's terrific, especially for a games this early in devolpment.

-Nutmegs and Flicks are awesome but cannot always be pulled off, which makes them difficult to spam
    -Shooting is a lot better.
-Keepers are better, in the demo, Buffon stood out.
-Some of the showboating by Ronaldinho and Neymar off the ball is immense.
-Some of the new animations are pretty cool (one i've seen is ball coming in just above waist height, and my guy decides to jump, feet first at the ball and side foot volley it in)
-The new "tackle" button (double tap X for ps3), like fifa's, makes defending a lot easier (it was a nightmare in 2012)
-manual shooting and passing are welcome additions (with little helper arrows if you wish to use them)

That's what I've seen for now. Obviously there are some annoyances but with the game 3/4 months away from release, i can ignore them for now as they aren't major imo.

    Anyone else's view on it?

    I am absolutely thrilled
the game looks amaizing, apart from a few minor mistakes which will hopefully be removed later on.
I think it's a pitty they didn't include a tutorial so I don't know everything yet, I've just discovered that when you double tap A you go in for a tackle which is extremely useful. Love the manual shooting and passing, and I'm looking forward to playing MLO

The game should be out on 25 September

I've seen a couple of online reviews where they've said it's rubbish, but it's clear by watching the game that they dont know the controls and expect it to be the same as fifa

This a demo available on PS3?

Might download it and give it a shot, the last PES I played properly was 6 (still the best football game to this day and I still play it all the time) so it will be interesting to see where the games are in terms of how far they've moved since 2007.

I thought it was good, the animations looked good but the one reason I hate the demos is the absence of commentary, although at times I do hate it, it does create the atmosphere.

I think I'm going to give it another try now.

I definitely like the new animations for those hooked turns, especially when you can spin defenders, I tried the manually passes and it's hard to get a hang of at first, but sometimes the ball literally goes centimeters past a player and he fails to control it, really pisses me off.

Can some explain how this new dribbling work? Is it like FIFA, by holding the slow dribble and doing tricks with the right stick? I've managed to do some tricks but not consistently.

You do use the right stick a bit, it's hard to explain, just look at the command list and pick up a trick and practice them in game untill you can do about 5-10.

some tricks dont use the right stick, i.e flicking it over an opponent. As the ball comes to you, hold R3 down, your player will flick it up, now point the L stick behind your player. Or the nutmeg, hold R2, as a player approaches, press R1 as well. They sound easy but the timing is hard.

Any idea how to use the dynamic first touch stuff? I can do the flick over the head, and have done a few other things by accident but I can't seem to get anything I couldn't do in PES 2012. It's mentioned in the publicity about trapping (with R2) or 'using the momentum of the ball to get round the player' or something - not really sure what that could mean.

The game is amazing and so realistic. The thing missing is the usual licence issue with club teams, without that I would have bought it.

As the ball comes to players feet, hold down the LT (Special Controls) button and then choose a direction to turn I think you have to hold a direction when the ball comes to feet, try if with the really good players like Rooney who normally have their back to goal.

You know you can download option files from the internet with all the correct kits, logos, stadiums etc...on them; all made by fans of the series as far as I'm aware (although very able fans), done to a high standard, and free to download. It's a pain to copy over all the files and stuff, but worth it in the end when you have everything there. Some of them also add face scans for better player likeness, add championship teams etc... and updates with modified player abilities as the talented youngsters and others make themselves known after release and through the season if you so wish.

I'll play around with that and see if I can get anything. In all honesty, I found the control when receiving the ball to be fine on PES 2012, it's always nice to see some flicks though

It's weird I was a big pes fan but, now Fifasoccerblog light years ahead.

FIFA just feels like the right weight, whilst PES feels light.

Ive played the demo by the way at around 3am, played it three times wanted to sleep, but felt as if I wasn't fully satisfied, so had one game of FIFA and all was fine.

I have to say, that was a very cool story.

That's exactly what he means, however, the teams will stay unlicensed online, it's only for offline modes.

That kind of thing, yeah. I use a different one, but there are loads, all with different perks (and some better than others). I don't play PES online so the online limitations don't bother me.

A huge pain to copy over like I said, but worth it in the end.

I liked fifa till a couple of months ago the momentum became too much (enhancing the opposition teams ability/making your team weaker)

plus the generic face became annoying to see, come on nobody in real life looks like that, atleast the one's on PES look real

The demo was very good I don't really have any complaints.

The dribbling felt tight so the user has more control

Manual passing is a big step forward, thou some times i'll make a pass and it wont go to the intended player this was also the case on PES 12

Defending is still difficult although i'm a noob to PES

The graphics are still better than FIFA's I like the fact that PES have most faces and not just the very famous footballers

It looks promising taken into consideration this is an early prototype now just to wait for FIFA

The kits work online i'm sure of this because whilst playing with man city i messed up the kits so their home top was blue but it had red striped running through the middle

Tried it. Ive got it on pc so i got it modded to use other teams and 10 min matches i like it a lot more than the last version shootings improved immensely unsure if it can compete with fifa tho that would have to be tested against other players.

I think its great! players feel varied but not unbalanced and overall play feels very pleasing.

However the manual passing and shooting felt either off direction or too weak/powerful and In the 20 or so games I played I still felt the manual passing was very awkward and whilst the shooting gifted several great goals it was still hard to get to grips with the power and loft balance.

The only other thing that bothered me in the demo was the lack of individuality in some of the players I had expected to have the new player ID system. Whilst Ronaldo's skills and Neymars flicks were visually pleasing, players like Gerrard seemed to lack powerful runs and the general command of the ball that is an obvious trait of his, as with other notable players traits like shot distances and passing. abilities seeming unlikely.

Although overall the game feels great to play and I personally would consider purchasing PES over Fifa this year.

The only issue I have With PES over Fifa is that I only ever play online, and from what I gather PES does not offer a great online experience in terms of player numbers.
